This descriptive essay is about the beach I will never forget.
The sky was blue, beautiful with its vast, borderless flow of clarity. Not all blue but with a pinch of gold. The white fluffy clouds hanging in the sky seemed to be invisible. Invisible in the immeasurable heaven up above yet visible to the naked eye. As I walked down by the beach, my eyes widened, my heart skipped a beat and I could feel my soul fluttering away by the immensity of the sky. All my stress, all my despair, all my doubts suddenly flew away. Away and forgotten. The sky, it was beautiful, the sun was slowly setting but it was still blooming its magnificent light. Tainting the sky with luminous colours.
Looking at the sky carefully, I could see the aureate light of the stars at a distance, quietly like a small mouse, illuminating its wondrous light. Far away, I could see the border where the sky and the sea meet. They seemed to be melt into one. One being, one creature. The sea was a cerulean blue gown. Blue, yet transparent. This vast expanse of water had an indefinable beauty; the reverberating heart of the sea caused a soft swell and the waves surge onto the shore with an ancient rhythmic beat. In and out, in and out.
As I walked down the beach, the waves in the distance were like white creases on a vast bale of velvet. But, I could sense deep down in the ocean that it was a living paradise. Dozens of different kinds of fishes, mammals, crustaceans living in harmony, forming the masterpiece of the sea as an example of Poseidon’s creation. On the surface, tiny yachts lulled with a beat so mesmerising that the waves kept on playing with them playfully. Unforeseen by nature, jagged rocks stood tall in the sea like a pillar. They were covered in emerald green vines which intertwined with an interesting pattern. In the distance, I could still hear the crashing and thunderous volume of the sea, fighting against the earth. It seemed to be a battle between the two forces of nature in a continuous, unending cycle. A small ruby red crab skittered across beach that was dipped in the deep, lustrous sand beneath my feet. Leaving a trail of tiny footprints on the sand.
The sky seemed to darken a bit and the sound of crowds screaming and quietened. The distant roaring of waves seemed to have surrendered and became a peaceful wave, quietly minding its own business and the world seemed to have calmed down. By the side of the beach, palm trees were lined up in serried rows and dipped their heads in obedience to the sea as if they too, also surrendered and calmed down. A soft cooling wind blew and the palm trees rustled with graceful serenity. Underneath them was an undergrowth of lush green bushes. It was like a rainforest: infinite and deep.
As I walked down the beach, the smell of the sea, mixed with the beach overwhelmed my sense of smell. Not a single trace of humanity. I was alone with nature. I reached a small cave, magnificently carved and sculpted by the ocean. Although it was small compared to the rest, it was unique. I went inside and it was so utterly quiet that I could only hear the sound of water droplets trickling down a rock, which soon became a small tiny river which eventually found its way back to the sea. The smell of the sea gradually vanishes and I could only see the wonders of this place; no words can describe this place. The ceiling glittered like a twilight in the shadowy darkness, like diamonds on display. The sound of the waves soon came back but this time, calm and soothing. My nose could smell the smell of home, a home to dozens of creatures, and a beckoning that yearns me to stay. I closed my eyes, it was as if paradise was here to welcome me. I always came here, it was as if it was my secret hiding spot from all my fear, my sickness, my weaknesses. I always came here. Time can pass and go, day can come but soon to be chased away by night.
The beach will stay here forever and never move away. The beach, where land meets water, where wonders are kept, where all doubts flee will always be there. The cool wind rushed towards me and left a sense of tingling on my cheek. It was time for me to go, the waves got much quieter, the tall palm trees dancing in the wind got distant, the yachts lolling on the waves got tinier and tinier until it was gone. All of it was gone. I have written this descriptive essay and still, I knew that they were etched into my heart and I will never forget the beach.
