Most people would not hesitate to claim that those who break the law should be punished and put into prison as long as possible in case they continue to endanger humans’ lives and properties. Crime, in general, is the worst thing a person can do because it violates the law and it is a violation against the victim. However, it is fairly wrong to blame criminals instead of the victims.
Predominantly, blaming the criminals for their crimes instead of blaming the victims will give fewer opportunities for news reporters to provide readers with a remarkable story instead of those typical cliché ones everyone has already grown sick of. It is always the plain usual; A person violates a fellow homo sapiens, becomes a criminal, ends up arrested, the victim becomes the top notch of the local news and the main source of pity by the other fellow humans, and the peace will be maintained.
Subsequently, not blaming the victims for being violated would defy human nature. Quite frankly, almost everyone secretly believes that people deserve their suffering. What a delightful night would someone spend sleeping peacefully in a warm, comfortable bed while knowing that their neighbor’s kitchen is on fire due to some unknown trespassers messing around. In addition to that, the neighbor is also being held responsible by the cops for not locking his house’s doors properly – even though he did. That couldn’t be any more perfect.
Respectively, the time spent on suing a man for raping a woman should be spent on the woman instead. She should be the one blamed for not wearing modest clothing that triggered a man’s senses. What could be more tempting than a woman layered up in clothes or in a long coat on a cold day? Probably nothing but temptation, from a man’s perspective. And since women are obviously stronger than men are, she could’ve stopped him; However, she didn’t. Which means she definitely wanted to be violated.
According to the majority of people, if criminals were entirelyforgiven, the order of the world would be upset. So punishment is one of the essential necessities for the safety of communities. On the contrary, criminals are humans too, and humans have rights. It is quite unfair that the law always takes the side ofthe victim and leaves the criminal to rot in prisons without any consideration while the victim is being spoilt in hospitals and special treatment.
To sum it all up, one of the habits society has to pick up is the tendency to blame people when horrid things happen to them. A man gets shot and killed? Well, it's probably his fault for stealing cigars. A really young kid gets shot? Well, he shouldn't have been playing with that toy gun. Not to mention the fact that every conversation about sexual assault has to come down to whether the victim invited it with her clothing or not. If people want to save themselves the trouble of the unnecessary investigating that will reveal the truth behind every crime, they should straight off blame the victim because he/she was definitely the stimuli that triggered an action.
