In the words of Socrates, there is no greater power and philosophy than oneself. When you want success as badly as you want air, then you will get it. There is no other secret to success. In every person, there is a sun, and we must just let it shine. Falling down is not a failure - failure comes when you stay where you have fallen. Be the kind of person that you want people to think you are. It is better to be at odds with the whole world than being at odds with oneself.
It is said that our generation is the mass of men that lead lives of quiet desperation. We tend to have this feeling of desperation when we are losing our way in life. The frustration that despite so many attempts and desires to do something in life - time passes, but nothing changes. This sense of discontent can be overwhelming, but it also signifies the deep yearning for growth and improvement inherent in every individual.
So how do we change this? The first step is to acknowledge that a change in our way of life is needed. Carl Jung said, “We cannot change anything unless we accept it” (Jung, 1961). We must accept our problems and how we are afflicted by them. Then we must gain a better understanding of our limits and possibilities. This acts as a stimulus to develop our personality. We must not dull our feelings or flee from positive possibilities and get entangled in mindless pleasures, as this only exacerbates the problem. We must accept that there is a brighter possibility for chances and life as a whole. We must question ourselves about what change is needed to bring back the vibrancy to life.
The path to self-motivation in life is self-actualization - an acceptance of a person’s own intrinsic nature. If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life. But over the years, our bad habits solidify. Everything that we talk about here directs us to oneself. We are our own propeller to a better and more fulfilling destiny. We must conceive an aim for our existence. Self-motivation helps us to be more successful, not because we aim to get rewarded for the goals we achieve, but because of the transformation we undergo to achieve the initial goal.
Self-motivation is a phase of self-realization, self-actualization, self-control, self-discipline, and self-transformation. Depression causing suicides these days is nothing less than an epidemic in our society today. The worst part is that we often do not understand a person who is depressed, and it goes undetected until a victim ends their own life or harms others. This is where self-motivation could play a big role in preventing the loss of life and correcting our society. By fostering self-motivation, individuals can find purpose and resilience in the face of adversity.
The vital concept and component of self-motivation are individualism and self-empowerment. The fundamentals of self-confidence and personality have their roots in self-motivation. It teaches one not only to idolize oneself rather than looking for or importing inspiration but also to create a new story of inspiration that one can look up to and be proud of. By empowering ourselves, we can become the architects of our own destinies, capable of overcoming challenges and achieving our dreams.
