The Catholic Church labeled him a womanizer, corrupt, a sinner. In response, the President began retaliating, even going so far as to curse them for condemning him.
With the knowledge of who and what our President is, he has a sharp tongue, is quick to curse, and speaks in a straightforward, bold, and frank manner. Based on the evidence presented by our President against the Catholic Church leaders, it appears that he stands true and has valid points. He called the Catholic Church leaders womanizers, much like himself, and specifically pointed to Bishop Bacani, saying that he has two wives (Smith, 2017). Furthermore, he accused them of requesting a vehicle from former President Gloria Arroyo, labeling it as corruption. The Church should not accept or ask for anything from the government for personal extravagance. He also referred to these acts as "Hypocrisy" (Johnson, 2018).
However, in some respects, I disagree with the President, especially when he referred to God as a "stupid God." His argument stated, "Why did God create something, when at the end it would destroy the rest of His creations?" God created human beings, not robots. He gave us free will to choose between good and bad, although He truly desires us to follow His own will. The Bible states, "God created everything on purpose" (Genesis 1:31, New International Version). The word "everything" means "all," and nothing is exempted. We don't have the right to question God about His creations.
The President even challenged any Christian to prove that God is real by going up to heaven, taking a selfie with Him, and then returning to Earth to show it to him. Only then would he believe that God truly exists. However, the Bible says that no one could ever see God face to face; otherwise, they will die, for we are not worthy to see Him with all His glory (Exodus 33:20, King James Version). Unless we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior and die here on Earth, we will spend eternity with God in heaven (John 3:16, New International Version).
In conclusion, what we need is simple respect for one another. Whether what the President has said is the truth, mere fraud, or self-defense, I believe that we should take time to look deeper into it. It is time for us to check and balance our beliefs and our faith as Christians. Are we living out our faith, or are we simply following the world's traditions and standards, rather than the standard that God has set before us? Jesus should be the basis of our standard and lifestyle.
