E-learning, Its Effects, Advantages, Disadvantages and Why People Use It

In the contemporary world the dependence on E-learning increased because of its high benefits and easy way of educating yourself. E-learning is a process of learning with the help of electronic technologies or learning a course online unlike traditional learning in the classes. In most of the E-learning methods, there is no need of the presence of physical teacher in front of you for a specified time but it depends on you whenever you want you can start learning online or on any electronic device. In this report, I want to explore e-learning, its effects, advantages, disadvantages, and why peoples use it.

The internet courses provided by different universities in the world are a kind of e-learning. Besides it learning for your own interest to understand a topic or book or history etc e-learning is the most useful way that helps you. There are many benefits of e-learning such as it save the time for traveling a long distance to schools for learning, it reduces the cost of paper and save the trees from which the paper is made, it gives you general and specific information that is available worldwide E-books, online library and its cost is comparatively lower than the traditional learning. Online dictionaries, encyclopedias, are the examples of e-learning. You have the freedom to learn and you have large number of material online that gives the students the easiest way to understand a topic. Besides the advantages of e-learning, there are also some negative impacts of e-learning. As the students will not interact with the teacher and not participate in the class or in the group so the communication, presentation and social interaction of e-learner will remain poor. In the websites there are many websites that are not trusted such as bloggers or Wikipedia articles are not recognized or published by any official publication so the learner have to learn at his own risk, may be he/she is learning the right or the wrong material via e-learning. My opinion about e-learning is positive as e learning’s advantages are more than the disadvantages. The learners must have to read the published articles that are authorized or approved by any institution. For example encyclopedia articles are helpful for everyone and the articles or materials in Harvard University or Cambridge University or any other internationally recognized university websites are good for the – learners. In the contemporary world everyone has electronic devices such as mobile phones and tables that are very helpful for the e-learning and saving the time.

E-learning reduces the cost of travelling to schools or colleges and save time to do extra work. It has been concluded that e-learning is very beneficial for the youths of the recent world. E-learning makes the environment very comfortable to the learner. It gives opportunity to improve your knowledge from the information available online from the worldwide recognized institutions. The only think that leads the e-leaning towards negative direction is the social communication and group participation of the learning reduced or lost because of studying by own and never getting an experience in participating in the class or doing presentation in the class room or discussion in the groups.
