Emma Watson as My Role Model

There are many inspiring people around the world but ‘Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson’ is the one I admire because of her success and how she inspired millions of people and be one of the best female performances in the world. Moreover, she is a feminist icon who encourage and inspire innumerable people to stand up for themselves and won uncountable awards at a young age.

The Reasons I Wholeheartedly Admire Emma Watson

The first reason I admire her is that she is a feminist icon who tries her best as a woman to protect women’s rights. Today’s society has portrayed numerous issues on women’s rights and gender inequality. As seen in the United Nations campaign called ‘HeForShe’ where Emma Watson devoted herself to feminism and contribute to the fullest with her ability as a Goodwill Ambassador (UNWomen, July 2014). Throughout her speech at the UN she mentioned that if people don’t start giving equality towards women, it might take almost a hundred years until women can be equally paid like men (Watson, E). As a result of her powerful speech, and vigilance has increased among people in society, which makes her become the feminist icon. She does not know only for just a Harry Potter girl but the women’s role model. Emma Watson also minds over women who get sexual harassment at work in the UK by launching the advice line which is fund by the government. Which makes it’s more comfortable and reliable for those who need help. Therefore, I think that people around the world with all genders should mind over this issue like what Emma did with all her best on the HeForShe campaign.

“Inspirational” is another reason I admire Emma Watson. Due to nowadays society where women have trouble with their self-confidence and relationship. Emma has various speeches in many of her interviews from numerous sources that have inspired uncountable people around the world especially women to love themselves and be confident in their bodies. She did a memorable speech during the interview saying ‘I don’t want other people to decide who I am. I want to decide that for myself.’:(Elle magazine, 2009). Women usually emphasize their appearance to get attention and be the best one for their relationship with someone, because they want to be valuable and important to everyone around them by following the trends and other’s opinions. Also, she mentioned that in the present-day women think that the pressure about their bodies comes from men but it is from themselves and women have higher their expectations about themselves which make them lose their self-esteem. So, her encouraging words have made many women including myself see the light after the wrong perception on self- confidence and relationship.

Lastly, she is one of the actors who improve herself at any chance of her life. As seen in many movies ‘Emma Watson’ is best known as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter film series since 2001 (Wittmer, C. (2017). Also, one of the best actresses and she has won many awards since a young age from many award shows. Also, Emma has stunning performance and role in the remake of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in Disney’s live-action as Belle (Ramos, DR. (13 August 2017). As a result of that, she wins MTV’s Gender-Neutral Acting prize in 2017 which is the first award ever in the history that doesn’t separate gender of the nominees (Christopher D. Shea. (May 8, 2017). All the rewards receive is all because of her hard work and discipline with the courage of not giving up no matter what she faced and that makes Emma Watson a good example of a successful life.

After all, the reasons I mentioned about Emma Watson who is entitled as an upstanding actress, feminist icon and role model for numerable people in the world. She is one of the encouragements for people who are desponded in life. Also, her most inspirational role is working with the UNWomen to stop women from being unequal and abuse. Lastly, Watson values people’s issues about their appearance and to love by her speeches.
