Evolution of The Different Types of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence growth has exceeded people expectations in the last decade. The purpose of creating an AI system is to make a machine capable of emulating human like functions, and performance. The fast growth of AI has been remarkably, to the point where people began to fear automated machines. Despite all the negative aspects of AI, it is still one of the most researched subjects in the world. It reached to the point that it progresses can’t be stopped. The purpose of this essay will to evaluate the different types of AI system, Reactive machines, Limited memory, Theory of mind, Self-awareness, and to see what effects will have on the future will side with human of will it defy its creators.

Reactive Machines

Information processing system that unable to save memories, but only able to deal with currently existing information. according to (Stezano.M ,2017). An existing form of a reactive machines is Deep Blue created by Alan Turing during the mid-1980s, it was created to play chess games against humans, with the ability to identify a chess bored and its pieces. Deep Blue was able to predict moves in advance before they were played and in between a series of matches Deep Blue was able to defeat a Russian chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov, becoming the first computerized AI program to defeat a human opponent.

Limited Memory

In addition to having the same ability as reactive machines, they are capable of learning from previously experienced information, data, and events. all present day AI uses deep learning algorithm by observing images, an image recognition AI is taught by watching a thousands of pictures and separating one from the other by labelling it to a specific code or a name, when an AI search for an image it uses the training images as a guide to know the specific of the image its shown to. According to (Matthews.K 2017) limited memory systems are already being used in autonomous cars, until recently it took this AI system about a 100 seconds to make decision, but thanks to a system called “compact AI” cars can now judge and decide with shorter time. Thanks to this system any device or a car that uses limited memory AI works faster than ever.

Theory of Mind

Unlike the previous two types AI, this is the next level AI system theory of mind is the ability to make decisions equally to the human mind, will also be able to interact with people on emotional level to better understand how the human mind works. As reported by (Hanson Robotics,2016) who created Sophia an android robot capable of holding conversation with humans and interacting with then on an emotional level, and according to (Stone.Z 2017) Sophia was granted a full citizenship of Saudi Arabia which made her the first ever robot in the world to achieve such status and be recognized by a whole country.

Self-Aware:

When comparing this system to the previous types this AI system involves human level consciousness, currently exists only hypothetically, but it is considered the most advanced AI system known to man. Self-aware AI doesn’t include the ability to only replicate human like actions, but to be able to think for itself, decide, have desire, where theory of mind only have the abilities to copy people actions, but self-aware implies that it will have the ability to self-guide itself through observing people and no repeating the same mistakes made by them. According to (MacDonald.F 2015) A researcher a robot was able to pass a test called the self-aware test for the first time. This indicates that the self-aware system is not only hypothetically but is it being researched and made through out the world. According to (Dobelli.R 2015) it is though that AI with a human level conscious is feared because it could develop the ability to disobey its creator.

In conclusion till this far were no fully capable of comprehending the exact level that AI could evolve to, what was discussed just now was the tip of an ice-berg compering to how much we still don’t understand about Artificial Intelligence, the most asked question when it comes to AI system “how dangerous can Artificial intelligence be” till now nobody was able to answer the question there are still many unknown factors and research to be done so that we know what exactly were playing with and what kind of future will we have living with Artificial intelligence beings.
