A study of the cryptographic money scene reveals no shortage of intriguing and valuable systems designed to address specific issues. There are projects promising anonymity, speed, decentralization, easier mining, or scalability, yet few of these are viable options for widespread adoption and regular use. People and businesses in the marketplace demand quick, convenient, and secure means of exchange.
When it comes to adoption in the market, even the crypto projects with the best brand recognition are met with caution rather than enthusiastic interest. None of the current solutions in mainstream use meet the usability criteria for comprehensive integration into the larger economy. It's not difficult to foresee headaches for end-users. With transaction times of up to an hour, it's no wonder supermarkets and cafes aren't jumping on the cryptocurrency bandwagon. End-users also fear the potential for hacks and coding errors. Even tech-savvy individuals are prone to user errors while safeguarding wallets and 30-digit private keys (Nakamoto, 2008).
HYCON addresses real market needs for a cryptocurrency. These unresolved issues inspired the strategy for the Infinity Project and HYCON:
The vision for the Infinity Project is a scalable coin that addresses market needs and provides a secure and seamless user-driven experience. A full node running the HYCON software offers access to a locally hosted web GUI for wallet operations, transactions, and blockchain analysis. We're also developing an intuitive wallet and exchange platform GUI to implement a fully decentralized cryptocurrency exchange using "atomic swaps" to facilitate trustless P2P trading of HYCON and other cryptocurrencies. Additionally, a method for decentralized trustless exchange is being developed (Antonopoulos, 2017).
For speed and scalability, HYCON utilizes the Specter protocol. The advantage of Specter over a conventional blockchain is shorter intervals between blocks and faster transaction confirmations. Specter enables different nodes to publish blocks simultaneously, without forking the chain. For miners, Specter eliminates orphaned blocks. Meanwhile, miners don't have to worry about stranded blocks.
Regarding mining, HYCON has implemented the Cryptonight proof-of-work algorithm, making it possible to mine with either a GPU or a CPU. However, in the interest of sustainability, we are seeking a more energy-efficient mining algorithm for the future, such as Proof of Space. Sustainability is crucial. The vision for HYCON is long-term, with a mining timeline of 50 years. Given this duration and the high rate of block distribution, mining rewards will be relatively low. Nevertheless, a high volume of transaction fees should make mining an attractive option (Buterin, 2013).
Examining existing digital currencies and the limitations preventing market adoption and integration, the Infinity Project and HYCON are positioned to break barriers with their fast, secure, scalable, and user-driven blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem.
