There are four fundamental forces of nature. The four forces are gravitational force, Electromagnetic Force, Weak Nuclear Force, and Strong Nuclear Force. These four forces have strengths with Strong Nuclear Force being the strongest, but has the shortest range. Then it would be Electromagnetic Force which is strong and has infinite range. Next is the weak Nuclear Force which is weak, but has short range. Lastly is the Gravitational force which is the weakest, but it has infinite range.
The definition of Gravitational Force is “the force of attraction between all masses in the universe; especially the attraction of the earth’s mass for bodies near its surface.” This force is the weakest, but it has infinite range. Gravitational force is the type of force that would attract any two objects and it would use mass in order to attract them. We call the gravitational force “attractive.” The reason that we call it attractive is because of all the mass that it attracts. One thing that gravitational force never does is push masses apart it always brings them together.
Next is Electromagnetic Force which is strong and has infinite range. Since this force is infinite range it affects everything in the universe. This force has the special ability not only to attract charges, but it can also repel them. Since the electromagnetic Force has infinite range you would think that it would be weak, but it is actually very strong. Now I’m going to give you an example that blew my mind and tell you how strong the electromagnetic field actually is. The electromagnetic field is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times stronger then the gravity in earth and that is crazy. To give you an example of when the electromagnetic force affects you is when you rub your hair on a balloon and they attract that is the electromagnetic force.
The Weak Nuclear Force is weak like it says in its name and has short range. The weak force is definitely stronger then gravity the only reason that we call it the Weak Nuclear Force is because it has short range. To give you an example of the Weak force would be Beta Decay. What happens during Beta Decay is neutrons begin to disappear and because of this they are replaced by protons etc… and this is a brief description of Beta Decay and that is an example of Weak Nuclear Force. What would happen if we did not have Weak Nuclear Force? Would anything change? Yes many things would change some matter would become more stable. The sun also would not exist because the Weak force makes and allows protons and electrons to form and make an element this is the source of the sun.
The Strong Nuclear Force is the strongest, but it has the shortest range out of all the forces. What the Strong Nuclear Force is the force that puts protons and neutrons together and makes them an atomic nucleus. The Strong Nuclear Force is the strongest it is 100 times stronger then the Electromagnetic Force. The main focus of the Strong Nuclear Force is to put together neutrons and protons and that is pretty much all it does.
So those are the Four Fundamental forces and how they affect and act in our universe together. I told you about their strengths and what their purposes are in the world today. With out theses forces we would not be alive. I thing the four fundamental forces are very interesting and I think that everyone should look them. The reason I think that they are so fascinating is because that gave me comparisons on how they are different then things on earth.
