Gun Control and School Shooting Issue

Introduction

Gun control reduces crimes around the globe. Gun control is needed in our world because it will stop crimes and provide safety for our community. This gun control law is necessary because it will put an end to mass shootings in our world. Over the past five years, there have been numerous school shootings, indicating a pressing need for gun control to curb such incidents. Implementing stricter gun control laws could significantly reduce the number of firearms in circulation, thereby decreasing the likelihood of guns falling into the wrong hands.

Gun Control and School Shooting Issue

These school shootings are severe and are putting students in danger of firearm violence. This causes many students to be afraid to attend school, and parents fear this too. Gun control is needed to provide safety in school environments and elsewhere. Having this law in every state will make students feel secure in any school. For example, there was a school shooting in Parkland, Florida, that left 17 innocent students dead. According to Gambros (2019), after the Parkland tragedy, states passed 50 new gun control laws. The state of Florida witnessed many people protesting for a gun control law. These protestors were fighting for the safety of students in public schools. This caused the state of Florida to pass the gun control law to keep the students in a safe environment. Enhanced background checks and stricter regulations on the sale of firearms are steps that can further bolster safety.

Global Perspective on Gun Control

Gun control law is needed in every state because mass shootings are happening everywhere around the globe. One of these shootings occurred outside of America; it occurred in New Zealand at a mosque. The New Zealand mosque shooting left about 50 people dead, which left the world in shock (NewsCurrents, 2019). If gun control was more stringent in this country, this shooting might have been prevented, as gun control laws typically restrict the types of firearms individuals can carry, allowing only those who are licensed to own certain types of guns.

Public Safety and Gun Control

A shooting happened in Colorado during a movie inside a theatre, where the suspect left 12 people dead (NewsCurrents, 2019). Having these shootings happen everywhere is causing people to be afraid in public places. With gun control, it would ensure that people feel secure within their environment instead of feeling insecure in a public place. Implementing measures such as mandatory waiting periods and comprehensive mental health evaluations for gun buyers can further enhance public safety.

Counterarguments and Conclusion

Others may say gun control is not needed for safety reasons, but they are wrong because some people think the best way to solve something is by killing, which lets them buy any gun if they meet the requirements, leaving anybody at risk. Gun control wouldn’t allow them to buy any gun; it would let them get a certain gun if they have a license to own a gun. By limiting access to firearms, gun control laws can act as a deterrent against impulsive acts of violence. Therefore, gun control is crucial in maintaining the safety and well-being of communities across the globe.
