Hillary Clinton is an exceptional person in the world of politics. She is recognized by people from all over the world, and her name until now is frequently spoken well of in the discussions about the political, national, confidential life of the American society. Her profession, attitude, objectives, purpose and capacity to perform the set roles made her known not only as a congresswoman, but also as an acknowledged leader who knows how to coordinate, connect and inspire people to accomplish the necessary outcomes. In addition, Clinton has been in the politics for a number of years, and is now considered as one of the greatest leaders ever.

Clinton handled to sustain the admiration she had been deserving for years when her husband left his post with the defamation. She is still among the most trusted people in the United States as until 2013 she occupied the position of the US Secretary of State. In 2013, Forbes magazine ranked Hillary Clinton the fifth in the list of 100 most powerful women. The author Rebecca Shambaugh (2010) claims that Hillary Clinton has only one formula of success and she has been using it for years, despite the fact that a lot of people do not acknowledge the similarities in her attitude in facing harsh situations, making the choices, treating opposers, and reaching her desires. Although, many people know this formula and comprehend that it has helped her gain the top positions by entirely fair means.

For a good deal of people, specifically for those that had their companies, Clinton was an instructor at that time as she recommended how to be successful and manage to preserve the businesses at times of the global recession the world entered in 2009.

She demonstrates that she knows how to perform in tough situations and how to support others in difficult times. Shambaugh (2010) claims that leadership style of the famous politician differs much from the one that was popular in the past and that is also often used by people in politics these days. This statement can be backed up by evidence of a few qualities that Clinton as a leader holds. She is able to think critically and quickly. Shambaugh (2010) claims that in a current situation, when businesses introduce new strategies for their development, and the whole world starts changing the older ways of life to new ones, which are more radical and determined, leader’s new way of thinking is essential.

In addition, the communication style must be evaluated. Shambaugh (2010) states that Clinton’s communication style is rich in different techniques, so that the politician does not always follow the same pattern of listening and speaking, but has a wide range of options to choose from and, what is more important, knows what variant to apply in a particular situation. This can be seen from her conversations, debates, public speeches. Shambaugh believes that Clinton’s communications style is elegant in different method so that the people she’s conversating with doesn’t hear the same pattern of listening and talking but has many options to pick from what is most essential. The author compares Clinton as the “American Iron Lady” due to how other perceive her when she speaks because she is aware of every word.

Her leadership skills are simple yet personal as stated in the book: embrace challenge as an opportunity and think of uncertainty as a gift to let you grow. In order to become a successful leader, a person must have certain personality traits. Clinton shows agreeableness characteristics. She knows how to communicate effectively and enjoys conversating and can find an approach to people with a variety of characters. Since she is a good communicator, she is always trying to do what she vows, keeps composed under pressure and is able to make intellectual decisions in tough situations.

Hillary Clinton is open to new experiences in which have helped her in becoming a great leader. As Shambaugh (2010) indicates, the former US Secretary of State is prepared to meet changes and benefits from it. The major part of Hillary’s success is defined by her ability to act as a real leader. The book uses the contingency leadership model and when relating Hillary’s skills and attributes, the model says that Clinton is both a task and relationship aimed leader because the goals of Clinton are the same throughout each case, improve people’s lives.

Hillary wants us to keep in mind that when making a choice make sure it is by evidence and not ideology. She also says that teamwork and actively participating must be established. In addition, if you want to become a leader you should attempt to reach your goals and not give up until you have reach it and are satisfied. Lastly, she suggests determining what values are essential and never ignoring them, trying to divide the contrary ones to reach the goals.

While this book has a deep understanding of what methods to use in order to become a successful leader, in my opinion it’s not really about Clinton’s leadership secrets. Shambaugh makes great observations about good attributes for leadership, then carefully uses examples from Hillary Clinton’s life to demonstrate them. Although, in the book it is mostly about the author’s own personal and professional views. It mainly reads as “I have done this, and I have done that”. Sources from Hillary Clinton are little and far between. Overall, the book is useful, but the title can be a bit misleading. However, I did enjoy reading on how she rose and became successful and was admired by many people including empowering women.

In conclusion, Hillary Clinton is an authentic leader that can be observed by many people. Her behavior, communication, skills and abilities, values, motivation she has handled in her life without giving up. Those who are wanting to gain respect and be a successful leader need to follow the suggestions given by this leader.
