I actually think homeschooling is stupid but I am just writing an essay below. My opinion is not included, thanks for the attention. Now read, come on:
There is a growing trend in some countries for parents to educate their children at home. What are the advantages and the disadvantages of home schooling?
Home schooling has become one of the most popular educational systems nowadays. It combines tutoring received from a parent and online courses. There are many benefits and disadvantages associated with homeschooling and the information below provides you with an idea of what to expect as a homeschooling parent or student.
To begin with, an increasing number of parents are deciding that home schooling is the best option for their families. There are several reasons for one to consider this method more efficient than regular school. Usually, parents are dissatisfied with the depth of education offered in school. As a result, building a curriculum based on what they believe is more important could give their children a well-rounded knowledge and cultivate their special talents. Also, home schooling could help in avoiding situations such as bullying and stressful semesters as well as sheltering children from violence, drugs, and other negative behaviors children in schools frequently encounter. It is worth mentioning that home-schooling is ideal for families form a different ethnical background since subjects such as the family’s religion or language may not even be available in the school. (I completely disagree with this, don’t judge)
On the other hand, there are multiple drawbacks on choosing a home education instead of a regular school with a significant one being that parents should not be the only ones responsible for their child’s education. Another equally important argument is that this kind of education deprives children from socializing with their peers and from being independent by choosing their subjects based on their personal preference. Home schooled children have less opportunities to integrate when they finish school because all their educational, emotional and social needs were covered by their parents and they won’t have learnt how to function in a non-familiar environment. Last but not least, home-schooling is not for every parent, and being an effective teacher in all areas is extremely difficult. A child’s education should be assigned to a specialist.
In conclusion, homeschooling can be very rewarding but it has some important drawbacks. I believe that while many parents work hard to teach their children at home, conventional schools are still the right choice for most children. School is a miniature of society and I think it is the option that actually prepares students for the real world.
