Introduction

Get some information from university students where friendship helps students succeed in university life that keeps social time and study time balanced. In fact, university student friendships can be more powerful and meaningful than that. How are friendship networks a matter to students for university success? Based on the research, student friendships motivate each other and provide emotional support through friendly competition in university life. Thus, friends are not really separate from each other's university lives.

The Role of Friendship in University Success

According to McCabe, as cited in Kovaos (2016), a professor of sociology at the University of Chicago, friends can sometimes be a barrier to university achievement, but they frequently offer help as well, whether students encourage each other or study in groups. Students recognize help from a group of people who care like family, which is critical in helping them manage challenging experiences at the university. Friends provide university help in various ways, and different friends offer different kinds of support. Students in groups tend to perform better academically, which motivates them to complete classwork or focus and concentrate on quizzes, thereby boosting their grades through collaborative work.

Some people might consider popular students or group members unnecessary for high academic accomplishment, but they have a tendency to influence others' attitudes towards studying at university. High-performing students can transfer their influence to classmates through discussions and shared academic interests.

For example, friends can offer encouragement and a listening ear when facing failure in university classes, such as exams or assignments, with phrases like "You can do it," "I will help you," or "You are my friend." Such support can significantly impact a student's ability to persevere.

Procrastination and Academic Performance

Procrastination tends to be a prominent feature of student life and should be prevented as much as possible. The stress from assignments may lead to an alarming amount of procrastination. Why do students procrastinate instead of doing classwork? Based on research, various reasons behind procrastination seem to be self-destructive and stem from a lack of motivation. Delaying study hours and pushing off homework to the last minute is often seen as an ideal method to relieve stress.

According to Arnold, Barbara, and Rebecca (1997), procrastination arises from the fear of the potential consequences of actions. It explains why students tend to postpone tasks they should be doing because they are overwhelmed by consternation (Arnold et al., 1997). Additionally, a lack of motivation influences procrastination, as when students do not want to do something, it indicates a lack of interest in that task (Arnold et al., 1997).

Students can find ways to stay motivated to combat procrastination. It is crucial to remain motivated (Arnold et al., 1997). For instance, students should plan schedules ahead and use their time wisely, as most end up procrastinating occasionally anyway.

Conclusion

Support from friends and self-introspection can help students determine whether they need help or are truly committed to their tasks. Instead of wasting time, students can achieve success at university by leveraging friendships and staying motivated.
