What can be improved
The essay "How to Overcome Teenage Depression" raises an essential issue of mental health among teenagers, but it suffers from several shortcomings that need to be addressed. The essay lacks organization and coherence, with the writer jumping from one idea to another without clear transitions or a well-supported argument. For example, in the second paragraph, the writer mentions suicide without providing any background or explanation of the link between depression and suicide. The essay's sentence structure and grammar are also inconsistent, with several errors that make the essay difficult to read and comprehend. For instance, in the third paragraph, the writer says "It is not unusual for the teenager to experience the blues or feel down in the dumps," but the sentence structure is unclear, and the meaning is not well-defined. The writer's voice is also inconsistent, with a mixture of personal opinions and general statements that do not always align with the topic. While the essay highlights some ways to deal with depression, it fails to provide a comprehensive analysis of the topic. For instance, the writer mentions hobbies as a way to overcome depression but does not explain how they can help or provide any evidence to support the claim. To improve the essay, the writer needs to focus on one central argument and provide clear transitions and supporting evidence for each point. The writer should also revise the sentence structure and grammar to make the essay more readable and comprehensible. Additionally, the writer needs to use a consistent voice throughout the essay and avoid personal opinions that do not align with the topic. For instance, in the last paragraph, the writer talks about personal realization and talent, which does not directly address the issue of depression among teenagers. Overall, the essay needs significant improvements in its organization, focus, sentence structure, grammar, and voice to effectively address the topic of teenage depression.
