I am who I am.
This defines me of myself. Remembering Rene Descartes, in his philosophical statement “Cogito Ergo Sum” translated in English as “I think, therefore I am” as he explained clearly we cannot doubt of our existence while we doubt. He asserted that the very act of doubting one’s own existence served –at minimum – as proof of the reality of one’s own mind, there must be a thinking entity – in the case the self – for there to be a thought. But thinking about myself, it entails the meaning of who I am. With that, all philosophers drawn much of my life’s reflection. I am conscious of my surroundings, my peers, my family, my future and so many things. Deep in my thoughts, I could say I wish I were a…and I want to be…..It’s quite ridiculous, I know there’s only constant change , I can’t predict my future, there’s a lot of factors affecting our daily lives. Considering that we are still adjusting the new normal type of learning. Eventually I am not only apprehensive of my own life as a student but also our world, our political society, the beliefs concerning religions and thereby realize our essentiality as a being.
Each of us in this world today interact in one another in variety of ways. The world today is not like never before, we are envisioned to be globally competitive. Our aims and purpose is to improve our lives, thus we yearn for progress with joint endeavors through different aspect including our spirituality. Facing challenges, barriers hindrances even painful life are all spices. Moreover, we need to know our best defense against this to achieve the best quality of life and journey that we want to embark on. Dealing with this together with inspiration we will be able to have a satisfying life that we dreamed of. As I have learned Saint Augustine statement like “know yourself how can I know others if I don’t know myself”. He continued searching for real happiness and wisdom by indulging in different studies of philosophy. He became skeptical of all religious beliefs and become critic of the Catholic Church. He wandered a lot and pointed to something that Plato had called the Good, exalted on high. His ideas and spirituality dominated and molded the thinking of many. And he quoted that “My heart is restless until it rest with God”. Reflecting that on myself as I considered love is the center of my life. We also should put faith in ourselves and the presence of God who dwells in us. For me God is our strength and companion in searching the truth. I should start now develop responsible sense of freedom and live with a sense of transcendence.
Examining my inner conflict to find meaning in this world of constant struggle between good and evil, as I determined to contemplate the deep meaning of my life with the efficacy of faith. This is my philosophy of life as a soul searching rational being.
