North America is the 3rd largest continent in the world. The main attraction of North America is its natural beauty and man-made Wonders. North America is blessed with Natural Resources and the stronghold on technical backgrounds. But despite having all the resources they are still struggling with daily death caused by the road accidents.
North America has overcome many troubles but the biggest threat they have encountered till now is the safety of their citizens from daily happening road collisions. This issue hasn’t been taken care of due to 3 major reasons:
Human or Driver-related:
Animal Related:
Road or Weather conditions:
Many road accidents occur because of overdriving vehicle’s headlights, improper following of road safety rules, driving for longer hours without break, not taking precautions during bad weather conditions and inability to take correct decision in panic situations like improper braking on wet or snowy roads. Examination of free-flow speeds on curved highway sections in rural New York State illustrated that drivers did not reduce speeds sufficiently on curves during wet pavement.
The team went through some recent news which symbolises the increase of road accidents in North America. On March 13, 2016 twenty injuries occurred involving piling up of 130 vehicles as driver’s visibility decreased because of heavy rain and scorching sunlight.
It happens very often, stray animals show up on the highways, where the drivers driving at high speeds collides with animals and lose control. Lack of driver’s concentration, improper fencing of roads are some reasons for these type of road tragedies. “Since 2013, 20 people have been killed and 2, 613 people injured in collisions with wildlife on Ontario roads. So far this year, there have been 145 injuries and one death. The numbers are generally going up – from 294 injuries in 2013 to 439 last year”.
Road or Weather condition: There was a research said that in Calgary and Edmonton, Canada; there was about 70 percent higher of car accidents during rainfall than a dry and clean situation. The same as winter snowfall, it is the most dangerous situation of driving, because there may be ice which you can not see after snow melts and refreezes on the road.
The above-written factors like weather conditions, driver’s state of mind, sudden animal engagement on highways and many others have never been used by road test examiners.
The team concluded many car accidents occur due to the aforementioned factors, so a tool capable of increasing driving skills and making them familiar with uncertain driving situations is absolutely necessary to tackle the problem of increased accidents.
