Introduction

The consequences of cheating in high school are either failing the entire course or getting a 0 on an assignment. This means that if you fail the course or you get a 0, then you might not get into a good college with your bad grade. This is a disciplinary action, and it will go in your school record. Colleges and Universities will see your record and will use the information to make their admissions decisions. The consequence of cheating in college is writing a reprimand in your record. This can not only affect your academic career but also your future jobs. Then maybe when you are trying to apply for a job, they will not accept you because they look at the record. You can also get suspended or expelled. Cheating can go on the school transcript, and it can be a problem when trying to attend graduate school. Cheating can go at a level of legal violation because they could be stealing a student's copyrighted work. Now, the question is, is cheating getting better or worse in school?

Identifying Collaborating vs Cheating: Better or Worse

Collaborating becomes cheating when people or giving away answers instead of working together. It also becomes cheating when people are they are giving answers without learning or one person solves all the problems and others are not doing anything. When collaborating is not becoming cheating is when the group is working together to solve a problem and looking for the best answers. If there is a presentation then everybody in the group is working together to find materials to include in the presentation instead of one person finding the materials and answering the questions and the people in the group or copying him. Collaboration can become cheating when one person is doing all the work and everyone else is copying him.

Teachers can make the prevent this violation by telling them the consequences of cheating. Teachers can make the difference clear by telling them that when you are cheating you're not learning and when you are not cheating you are learning. They can prevent cheating by telling people that the only way a group can learn is when everybody is working together. Teachers can prevent this violation by telling the students to look at their own paper and not talk at all because if they see talking then the teachers can think they are cheating. The teachers can tell students to put their things away like cell phones, books, and notes. They can try to avoid having backpacks next to them.

Conclusion

Collaborating is beneficial when the group is working together and they are not copying each other's work. It is beneficial when everyone is participating and working together. When they are trying to share each others ideas and have teamwork. It is beneficial when people are having are not sharing. Collaborating is detrimental when the group is copying each others answers and only one person in the group is doing the work. It is detrimental when not everybody is getting involved in working together or answering questions or when one person is doing all the work. The group is not learning because they are copying each other's work. If one person if doing everything in the group or everyone is copying that one person then there is no point in having a group because one person is doing everything.
