Description: Located at our corporate offices in Europe or the US and reporting directly to the leadership, you will be responsible for formulating leading and executing our global strategy. Success in this position will be measured by the creation of short term shareholder value through our lean execution roadmap.
Primary job objectives include:
I believe that I have a combination of soft and hard skills that position me as a strong candidate for the job: Having worked in the VC sector before, I developed a strong network in the startup sector. Previously, I managed and developed the due diligence process from origination and due diligence to execution and portfolio management. I assisted in raising funds for a $50 million fund and I developed strategic partnerships with a leading US institution and a merchant bank. As interim COO for a tech startup and drilling engineer on rigs in the Middle East, I gained experience in managing diverse teams ranging from 10 to 80+ people. Through my natural interest in venture capital and previous corporate business development experience, I developed a CVC and M&A group network and have a sense for where the industry is heading.
How does coming to LBS relate to who you are and who you want to be in the future? LBS was a launching point to expand my engineering background by developing strong technical and leadership skills. Having studied with a passionate and diverse student body, I gained confidence to test my abilities and work with leading organisations in the financial and technology sector. LBS’ vast alumni network and the lasting personal connections I made during the MBA allow me to be a well informed and well connected decision-maker. Looking back, what is the managerial accomplishment that you are the proudest of to date?
Managing the diverse 80+ workforce on a drilling rig in the Middle East as Night Drilling Supervisor is my proudest managerial accomplishment to date. For two years, I have spent two to three weeks every months on rigs flying via helicopter. The working environment is unique: imagine a large steel platform, 100s of miles away from land, howling wind, groaning machinery and heavy seas. Operations cost from $300,000 a day and every minute counts. As Night Drilling Supervisor, I was in charge of maintaining high health and safety, technical, and behavioural standards aboard the rig. I would prepare and screen daily operation programs for critical errors. If I missed anything, I and 80+ people could be in danger of equipment failure, explosive fire, or hazardous gas. As a manager, I held my team to high standards and continually sought excellence.
