Medieval Europe after The Fall of Rome

One result of the fall of Rome is lack of learning and establishment of feudalism. Pope Leo the third crowned Charlemagne king because he protected by Charlemagne from his enemies in Rome. The Vikings were strong, smart, and could conquer places easily. Some examples of Medieval technology are of gunpowder, the invention of vertical windmills, spectacles, mechanical clocks, and greatly improved water mills, and building techniques. The government used in Medieval Europe was a monarchy. They were given their power by the constitution. They were expected to keep order and to provide protection for their vassals. Society in much of medieval Europe was organized into a feudal system, which was based on the allocation of land in return for services to the king. Most future knights worked as a squire for five or six years. If a squire had proven his bravery and skill at the battle, he would become a knight at the age of twenty-one. He gained the title of a knight at a dubbing ceremony. Chivalry, or the chivalric code, is an informal, varying code of conduct developed between 1170 and 1220, never decided on or summarized in a single document, associated with the medieval institution of knighthood; knights' and gentle woman's behaviors were governed by social codes. A monastery is a building or complex of buildings comprising the domestic quarters and workplaces of monastics, monks or nuns, whether living in communities or alone. Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Reconciliation Anointing of the sick, Marriage and Holy Orders.

During the high Middle Ages, the Roman Catholic Church became organized into an elaborate hierarchy with the pope as the head in western Europe. He establishes supreme power. Medieval holidays honored Jesus or stories within the bible. The clergy in the Middle Ages was exempted from paying taxes because they were giving services to their parishioners and also provided spiritual satisfaction and care. A pilgrimage is a journey or search of moral or spiritual significance. A monk is a person who practices religious asceticism by monastic living, either alone or with any number of other monks. A nun is a member of a religious community of women, typically living under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience in the enclosure of a monastery.

The primary goal of the Crusades was to recapture the Holy Land from the Muslims. In the High Middle Ages that the university came into existence. The university, which developed and matured at the height of Catholic Europe, was a new phenomenon in European history. The Roman Empire had encouraged the building of towns, but the German barbarians refused to live in confinement. When they swept through the empire they settled on the land and, later, built manors, castles, and villages.

The Purpose of Guilds in the Medieval times of the Middle Ages was originally based on the protection of the Guild members but consumers also benefited from the introduction of guilds. The royal charter was a document issued by a monarch as letters patent, granting a right or power to an individual or a body corporate. One result of the Medieval towns being so dirty is because people would litter trash out their windows. Women held the positions of wife, mother, peasant, artisan, and nun, as well as some important leadership roles, such as abbess or queen regnant. The jews could not own any land, they were the target of crime,and they were depict by christians, but they could be bankers or moneylenders. The English plea rolls contain no cases of trial by ordeal after 1219, when Henry the third recognized its abolition. Common law was the body of customary law, based upon judicial decisions and embodied in reports of decided cases, that has been administered by the common-law courts of England since the Middle Ages.

If I were a lady/lord my class in the feudal system would be high since I am married to a king who is the ruler of the kingdom. It works out ok for my social class because the beginning knights would help us out with what we needed and would provide service to us.
