It was the 30’s the weather was crazy, and people lived through hardship and intense poverty. During this time a lot of families migrating were impoverished, which led them to toil hard to get through.

This photo shows a mother and her children going through adversities and intense poverty, but it shows the dedication of a mother wanting to give her kids the best during the depression. The picture shows a weak tired mother, overwhelmed with the uncertainty of what her kids will eat next, where they put their heads to sleep and how she will get through the crisis with her kids. Due to the title of the photo, it shows the woman is a migrating. Looking at their clothes, it shows they are poor. The mother is putting on a grey shirt that is cut to the elbow with a checked top wrapping her baby in a grey coat. The kid next to her to the right resting his head on his mum is putting on a grey top with holes on them which looks really tattered. The second kid on the left resting on his mother’s shoulder is putting on a jacket which is big on him. It also shows their clothes haven’t been cleaned in a while. Besides the mother and kids looks like they haven’t showered. The woman and her kids look dirty due to the environment they in. You can also notice the blemish on the face of the baby and the child on the right seem to have dirt on his left arm.
The photo shows the woman in the center of the picture, which implies that she is the head of her family. The children resting on the shoulder of their mother shows they turn to their mum for comfort. It also shows that the mother may have breastfed her baby because of her open checked shirt.
This picture shows a family during the great depression suffering and toiling to get through, but it also displays the mother’s dedication to care and provide for her family during the hard times. It’s really amazing to see the level of poverty of families during the great depression. Thank God we had strong mothers who loved and cared for her family’s survival.
