Motivational Letter (graphic Design)

Vibrant. Focused. Energetic. These are the words I would use to describe myself, as I know they reflect the progress I have made in my life. During my time at school, I found various topics difficult to learn. Until one day, I tried learning a topic with a creative approach and was surprised to see it worked. Over time all things creative, other people's perspectives and imaginative approaches influenced me.

I am hardworking, highly motivated and can demonstrate a high ability to work well independently and as part of a team. My future will see me pursuing the path of a successful artist of the 21st Century with my styles ranging from comic arts to digital art. Studying Graphic Design at a university level would be a great starting point on my life's adventure and will give me the opportunity to learn the subject further and develop my skills in creative software that will help me build on my portfolio. Shepard Fairey, Andy Warhol, Julian Opie, Walt Disney, Banksy and Stan Lee are my go to artists for inspiration. Their styles unique and in most cases, they can express strong messages, concepts and ideas creatively to captivate audiences. This is what I like about these artists.

In my recreational hours I am just as creative as my personality. Hand drawing and writing my own medium such as comic books are my main hobbies. I will be happy to show you some of my work as part of my portfolio. Furthermore, I have a solid understanding of the Adobe Creative series with Photoshop and Flash being my main strengths. My hobbies have helped me build my personality and have influenced my career path.

Currently, I am studying a Creative Media Production course at Telford College, which I chose because I wanted to learn more about other forms of art like filmmaking and photography. This course has been great for me as I have been able to use my creative flair to complete tasks like I was able to do at Sixth Form when I studied art and IT. This course is relatable to my personality and influences as I can creatively meet a brief and produce videos which convey ideas and perspectives. The IT course aided my development in the understanding of digital imaging software during which I was able to follow briefs and produce high quality work as a result. Business helped develop my employability skills from teamwork to problem solving. My art course has allowed me to be creative and produce final pieces referring to a given brief.

The skills I have acquired from my studies are vital for Graphic Design. My innovative approach to respond to briefs, my experience with the Adobe Creative software is to produce visually exciting pieces and my employability skills to present ideas and work with other people. Utilizing my personality and skills, I have helped various clients with their promotional material. I produced advertisements for events at Madeley and have helped promote a regeneration project for The Clifton (a community arts center in Telford).

I have participated in a wide range of extra-curricular activities and have organized and ran events. These include a fancy-dress football match and running a stall at an employment convention, both of which have been successful at raising money for charity. Furthermore, I was also part of the Youth Climate Coalition (formerly known as Youth Climate Change), which bought together the minds of young people around the country to come up with ideas to help the environment. Being a Peer Mentor, a Prefect and a Sports and Eco Ambassador during school years has helped me to improve my leadership and communication as well as boost my confidence with interacting with people more effectively.

Having the chance to study at your university will allow me to channel my creative drive into real life situations and learn more about the creative industry. These are skills I can utilize this in my career as a Graphic Designer.
