Before you are able to be in the job, you should take these high school electives to help you get the correct education: Women's Choir, Band, Music Theory, Anthropology, Sociology, AP Psychology, and possibly even Spanish. These courses will help you get a deeper understanding of each part of the job.

To qualify for the job, you need a Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy. You are required to take a completion of courses in both music and therapy. Plus courses in Music Theory. You can also be eligible to sit for the National Board Certification exam to obtain the credential MT-BC ( Certification Board for Music Therapists) which is needed for professional practice. The test has a $50 fee to take it.
