I taught in a school as a volunteer in summer vocation before my junior year, which becomes a valuable memory to me. Both the terrible living and teaching conditions shocked me when I first arrived there. Campus consists two poorly constructed building, one as classroom and one as dormitory. There are forty three students in total, from elementary level to high school, taught by four teachers only, including me. Each teacher gives several different lessons. As both math and English teacher, I try to tell them everything possible with limited facilities. Luckily, these kids ask questions all the time, and finish their homework on time.
During the time spending with kids, I was touched by their persistence. Their continuous desire to knowledge under the harsh situation, their mature and independence in young age, their easy satisfaction from little thing, makes me aware that there are numerous impoverished kids all around of the countries. They are poor, they live in a much worse world than me, and they lack opportunity to get advance education, to enjoy their life. I donate all my left money to the school, hoping it can help those kids get better studying circumstance by buying more books.
I soon realized that little donation from me hardly solve their financial problem, not to mention there are countless impoverished children all around of the world. I want to help, and the only way I can think about is by being a successful businesswoman. If I can make achievement on business field, in other words, if I can make abundant money, then I have the ability to help those poor kids. Therefore I decide to major in business, so I can later start my own career, thus generally approach to my goal of helping others. Those kids, they should have the right to study in a modern circumstance where they don’t have to worry about weather and insufficiencies of faculty and facility.
Since then, I searched on line and try to find a university which fits best, which where I am right now, university of Wisconsin, Madison. The BBA programs, especially entrepreneurship, offered by UWM are really attractive and competitive. They offer practical learning experience that students can talk with successful businessman face to face and operate real program by them, which are what I desired for.
By join BBA program, I strongly believe alumni and network, as well as real learning model will prepare me as a successful businesswoman in the future. Like what children there taught me independence, gratitude and persistence, I have confidence that I, with diligence and dedication to business, can always learn from my peers in BBA program. Students with distinctive background will accompany me experiencing different opinions and solutions, professors with proficient knowledge will guide me exploring interesting business world, and learning condition with abundant resources and friendly classmates will encourage me to integrate into this warm community, becoming one of the family member of this big home, Wisconsin business school.
I will keep volunteering in that school this summer again, and I hope one day, I can bring them sufficient funds, after becoming a accomplished entrepreneur graduated from Wisconsin Business School.
