I am from the forest that surrounds my grandparents humble cottage. It is always exploding with life. Birds whistle their own tunes as they swoop through the trees gracefully while the cows moo in the fields. The forest was my escape from reality. It was where my imagination came to life. I knew the forest like the back of my hand. My favorite place in all of the forest was this small hill in the middle of the a meadow deep into the forest. I was drawn to it like a moth to a light. It was my own little secret, no one else knew about it not even my brothers who tried to follow me through the forest. Even though this place is magical and wonderful, a terrifying thing happened in my innocent wonderland. As i was making my way to my meadow i noticed that one of my brothers were following me through the dense forest. Instead of going to my little hide-a-way i decided to trudge deeper into the forest to get him of my trail. After walking for a few more minutes i turn around and notice he's not there anymore. Hoping he gave up at went back to the cottage i continued to go back to my meadow.
After hanging out there for a few hours i started to go back home. I was greeted by my mother when i got back. Frantic she asked if my brother was with me. Rolling my eyes i said “no, why?”. She immediately ran out of the cottage to the woods screaming his name. I ran after her realizing he didn't come home after his trip in the woods. Running i go through the forest, deeper than i have ever gone before. I came upon a ruined house bigger than my grandparents cottage but smaller than our own house. It was old and wrecked from the weather. I cautiously approached it worried that there might be wild animals hiding. There was a huge crash inside which would’ve sent me running in the other direction, but a small cry of laughter echoed through the woods.
It was familiar, it was my brothers. Not being cautious anymore i ran inside to find him covered in dirt playing with the toys that the old owners left behind. I scooped him up and took him back home to my mom. Later that day i asked my great grandparents about the house in the woods. They told me they have never seen it or anyone near it the entire time they have been living here. Offering to take them to the house they declined and said somethings are better to keep a secret.
