Texas A&M University and I both hold similar goals of exceeding expectations and creating new and distinct boundaries for the future. I, like Texas A&M University, constantly strive to go beyond my limits and learn new information everyday through dedicating my spare time in the pursuit of learning as well as acquiring new knowledge through experience and my fellow peers. I have always gravitated towards the study of the human mind and behavior, and it was my passion for psychology that ultimately brought me to applying to the respected Texas A&M University for its outstanding department of psychology. I was always back and forth between what career I wanted to pursue, but after a lot of thought and consideration I can finally say I have found something that greatly interests me and opens up new possibilities that didn’t exist before. Psychology used to be something that I was always interested in but I didn’t feel I could make a promising career out of it. The time I spent at Blinn college changed the way I feel about what I wanted to do in life as well as igniting a fire inside of me to keep striving to get to where I wanted to be, and that is at Texas A&M. Participating for the first time in a psychology program that focused on learning and applying new knowledge made me feel more engaged in a field of study than I ever had before. Time I spent learning the complex anatomy of the human brain and the interactions of neurotransmitters as well as discovering how psychology is the fundamental explanation for a wide variety of disorders contributed to my growing passion for this particular major. With all of this being said, my desire to further expand my love of psychology brings me to Texas A&M University as my dream college. Thanks to the experience of the multiple courses of psychology I have taken, I am certain that Texas A&M would be a perfect fit for me and my future because no other university can assist me in following my passion by allowing endless opportunities quite like A&M can.
In addition to just Psychology, I have gravitated towards Texas A&M for many other reasons. Not only was I raised in an Aggie household, I also strive to work with those who share the same dedicated mindset as me and are looking to improve their lives both personally and professionally. Because A&M University supports and welcomes every gender, race, and sexuality, I would feel comfortable and honored to become apart of such a respectful and nondiscriminatory learning environment. Coming from a high school that doesn’t isolate students apart from one another, I believe TAMU would make me feel right at home. Eventually I want to possess enough confidence to help others in the rapidly changing world we live in today. I believe that Texas A&M will be the place that can best prepare me for my future workplace as well as making me feel confident and equanimous with whatever choices I make in life. My strong work ethic and motivated attitude of relentless growth is what I believe will keep me focused and successful throughout my years spent in college. Exercising uttermost caution on every assignment I am given and performing due diligence on all my work is what distinguishes me from all the other students. Through my extensive research, my fellow aggie peers as well as the many generations of A&M students in my family, I am beginning to feel that this particular school is the most suitable and desirable fit for me and my future.
Although I don’t attend A&M quite yet, I already feel as if I am already apart of the Aggie family and tradition. Every A&M professor and advisor I have consulted with seem to further encourage and excite me for my future at this university. From the moment I toured the campus to the time I have spent living in the city of College Station, I have felt this new state of overwhelming confidence and self assurance. I feel as if I am ready for the future challenges and obstacles that await me throughout my journey at A&M and I am prepared to do whatever it takes to succeed as a devoted and committed individual.
