My roommates and I woke up at about seven because we had to be on the bus by eight. We spent the whole day that day hiking up volcano Arenal. By the time we got back to our house we were all completely drained of energy. I opened the window and glanced outside one last time before I hit the hay. As I did so, I saw a kid run into a home, take something, and then run out. I told my friends about what I had just seen and they gathered around next to me to watch him. I thought the kid was a robber and my friends agreed. Then he came over to our house and banged on the window. It scared the shit out of us. We all grabbed the sharpest thing we could find and stood back to back. We finally saw the son of our house mom and he was standing with the “robber”. We realized that the kid was actually not a thief at all, he was just one of the neighbors. Adam and I then walked outside to talk to them. His name was Kevin, and he was also our age. I ran back inside to get Matt and Nate. It turned out we had all been wrong the whole time; they were both really cool kids, so we decided to play soccer with them. We didn't end up going to bed until around two AM.
“GAVIN….MATT….ADAM HELPPPP MEEEE!!!!!” I woke instantly and hopped up to see what was going on. It sounded like it was coming from the bathroom so I sprinted over there to see what happened. There was Nate sitting on the floor bare ass naked. “What the hell happened Nate?” Well Nate got electrocuted. The hot water wire got a cut in in and the electricity when through the water as he pumped. He got up and dried off and we decided to go for a morning run. We ran about 5 miles and passed by a cool creek that we decided to explore another morning. We got to the bus stop on time and headed to a zipline tour and a hot springs. The next few days were fun filled as we went to remote islands and snorkeling.
The next morning we woke up and went for a run. We ran back to the creek that we previously explored. We decided to make a bridge and get across to the river to go to the bamboo trees. After making the bridge Adam was the first one to go across. It didn't go too well because he splashed in the water and went fully in. We pulled him out and ran back to the house. The house mom was waiting there and asked us what we did. We told her about the river then went in to change and go on the bus to go a hot springs. When we got on the bus the first thing that happened was our teacher yelling at us. She said that the water was toxic because it flowed from a power plant. She told us that we were grounded for the rest of vacation and we had to stay at our house after the excursions. Honestly who the hell would ground us on a vacation trip to costa rica, All we did was explore. Isn't that what kids are supposed to do? This meant that we couldn't play pool at the bar next to the house which we had been for the past few days. The rest of the vacation was a bummer and the time flew by.
We had to get up at 5 to catch the plane ride. We headed on the airplane and were ready to get off at our layover in Miami. When we got to Miami we were running very late. We did not make the plane ride in time and had 27 kids to get back to Massachusetts. I thought there was no way that she was going to get a plane with that many open seats. I was also hoping that she wouldn't because I wanted to stay a night in Miami. How she managed to actually get a plane with 27 open seats, I have no clue how she did it. We arrived back home at around 9 and I was very sad that the trip was over.
