My role model is my mother. She is my greatest hero, and I admire her so much. Before her, my entire family was living in the countryside. However, she moved out to the city when she was only 18, starting with nothing. She and my father started a clothes shop with the money they earned. Even when she got pregnant, my mother continued to work hard during the beginning of the business until the last month before my birth. Although she let me live in kindergarten when I was less than 3 years old, I still look up to her and am inspired by her hard work. This is why my role model is my mother, and I’m writing this short essay about her.
She not only works hard, she also manages everything in the family. She still tries to pick me up from my school to my math competition teacher as long as she can, and takes the best care of me every day. She even has to do housework sometimes when my maternal grandparents go back to the countryside. Since my dad works away from home and comes back once a week, she takes the responsibilities of the whole family on herself. I saw her being stressed out and having mental breakdowns multiple times, but she always manages to overcome all the problems and faces me with a super warm smile.
Although she’s not very well-educated, she is very compassionate and open-minded, and she can always look at things through different people’s perspectives. When I told her that I wanted to go to America for high school, she refused immediately at first, which was really normal for a mother who never thought about letting her only child go to another country alone. However, she did lots of research and talked to many people about this, trying to understand my thoughts. Eventually she made the decision to let me go. It was the greatest love that I ever received. She let me follow my dreams, even though she’d miss me a lot when I was not in my home.
Now, my mom starts a new music education center; my father is running a hotpot restaurant and makes his old clothes business keep thriving; I’m working hard in a brand new environment. It’s a new chapter of life for my family, and I believe we’ll be better and all be heroes.
