My Motivation to Pursue a Master of Cybersecurity (business Operations)

We live in the age of technology. PCs, cell phones and systems are utilized by everybody, all over the place, as an empowering influence and driver of advancement. The developing pace of progress in data innovation and correspondence has influenced the way we used to spend our life. New innovation has presented expanded level of living style and standard. The data framework has made it less demanding to impart, work together and participate in accomplishing shared objectives. To survive and beat the opposition in today's competitive world, we need to create or make new innovation, which has persuaded me to study B. Sc. (Hons) Computing. I am Utsav Bhandari, the youngest child in my family. I have a family with five members.

My date of birth is 30/09/1995 and currently, I live in Kathmandu, Kirtipur. My Father is a professor in one of the biggest universities of Nepal i. e. Tribhuvan University and also a writer and my mother is a house wife. I have 2 elder sisters. One of them is a journalist in the United Kingdom and my other sister is doing her doctor of medicine in China. I wish to introduce myself as a prospective student aspiring to pursue my Master of Cybersecurity (Business Operations). I have passed my secondary education in 2013 from Creative Academy, affiliated with the board of Nepal with flying colours securing 88. 88%.

Then, I accomplished my higher secondary education in 2016 from HSEB (Higher Secondary Education Board of Nepal), being part of Kathmandu model higher secondary college, with an aggregate of 77%. After completion of 10+2, I decided to pursue my higher studies from The British College affiliated with Leeds Beckett University, UK and graduated with First class honours in the year 2018. After completing Bachelor Degree, I joined English Language School for IELTS preparation. And I appeared for International English Language Proficiency Test (IELTS) on 13th September 2018 and achieved an overall score of 7. I have benefited vastly from the breadth of my University’s undergraduate syllabus and gained a comprehensive exposure to many core areas of the field.

During my Bachelor, I possessed the capacity to learn programming languages like C, C++, and Java which we utilized for fundamental programming improvements. We have had different fruitful undertakings on web advancement where we needed to make completely practical and facilitated sites utilizing HTML5, CSS, PHP and JavaScript JavaScript. I have engaged myself in different work experience for short period of time. I first worked as a Website developer and a graphic designer in Innovative Creation Services Pvt. Ltd (ICS) in the year 2016 for 4 months. After completing my Job in ICS, I then worked for Cuidado Technology Pvt. Ltd as a Graphic designer and Back-end web developer. I assisted the team of Cuidado Technology in developing the website.

While I was on my third year of college, I got the opportunity to work as an intern in Turkey. I worked for the company called Parkyeri, which is an Istanbul based company with its scope of business covering software development, operations and consultancy. This company was founded in 2001 and also considered one of the sector leaders with its solutions on mobile technology, Internet and database systems. Parkyeri was also Turkey’s first W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) member. I was working for the ‘Smart Home’ project along with 5 other interns from different nations. My major responsibility was to develop a prototype of the Smart House.

This experience helped me enhance my knowledge and skills, build my personality, grow professionally and has provided me with invaluable life experience. Throughout, my scholastic records and achievements I have given my best as an all rounder. I have always consistently ranked in top 5 of the students at The British College. I was a class- representative for a period of one year where my role was to implement new policies regarding the development of the department and the students. I was also engaged in different boot camps and voluntary works. During the devastating earthquake in Nepal in 2016, our college organised the ‘Blanket for Humanity’ event where we provided foods and clothes to the people of ruler areas who lost their house and property. Similarly, I used to actively take part in other different events organised by The British College. I have command and proficiency in three language; English, Nepali, Hindi.

Why Cybersecurity? What is most concerning about the ubiquity of technology is the multitude of cyber threats which organizations and individuals have to contend with. While the risks to individuals are relatively high as it relates to invasion of privacy, identity theft and financial loss, cyber-attacks can have a particularly critical impact on businesses. Depending on market and jurisdictional realities, the consequences can include heavy regulatory penalties, plummeting stock prices, etc. Thus, the effect on a company's bottom line can be catastrophic.

The main reason behind getting my higher education in abroad is that the course Master of Cybersecurity (Business Operations) is not available in my home country. Perusing an internationally recognized degree is in the wish list of many students in this world. I too feel the same and hence I researched over the internet and look at several countries which provide quality education and found that the USA, UK, Australia and few and few European countries are highly acclaimed for international degrees. I calculated all the options of bases of cost efficiency, overall educational facilities, provisions for international students, socio-economic environment and other requirements etc. Through my research, I realized USA is the first options for most of the international students, however, the country faces serious crimes in its cities more often and also the culture and environment over there is quite different from the one in my home country. As for the UK and other European countries, they are also one of the leading forces for international degrees though the currency denomination is very high which makes living and academic expenses comparatively much more expensive. Coming back to Australia, it is cost effective and has a good reputation with regard to the degree I choose to pursue.

Moreover, apart from affordable fees, it provides some of the best educational facilities in the world and government of Australia along with its educational institutes have granted international students several beneficial provisions that secure their interest throughout their course of study. For example, during my research I came to know about the ESOS act, which secures the right of the student to get updated and accurate information about the educational institutes and courses they offer even before enrolling. Also, the students are granted the right to sign a prior agreement with the institution before paying the fees where they can ascertain the clear facts on terms and conditions that apply during their course of study.

Furthermore, Australia has much safer environment with lesser rates of serious crimes and it is quite similar to my home country in terms of climatic condition and some social aspects. Therefore, after much consideration on all the matters, I have decided to pursue my further studies in Australia. Australia is a highly developed nation with all modern amenities which is tremendously growing as the leading destination for students worldwide to gain quality and globally appreciated education. I am very positive that I can add much achievement to my educational career and beyond by enrolling into the education system there. The reasons are many but the one that outweighs all is the quality of education that is a total add-on to our value. I have searched about some of the student visa rules for international students and found out that an international student is allowed to work a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight when course is in session, and unlimited hours when course is not in session. Students cannot change their education provider before 6 months. Student cannot start work before the commencement of the date of program. If student changes their residential address then they have to inform their education provider or DIAC within 7 working days. Student have to take their health insurance on regular basic until the visa gets expire. Student attendance in the university should be 80%. In order to get their Student Visa for Australia (Under SVP), student have to show to the Visa Office, One year of tuition fees, One year of living expenses’, OSHC for the entire duration of visa & return airfare.
