With technology developing so quickly as a part of the society, it is not astounding to see that the technology utilized as a part of school education is increasing just as fast. 13 million dollars have been spent worldwide in 2013 on technological devices in schools. Many people think that technology used in education leads children to be more creative, future orientated, exciting, have a better role in collaboration and obtain more self-confidence. However, what many people do not realize is that to much screen time with the use of technology in education has negative effects as well. Therefore, the use of technology in education must decrease since to much screen time leads to near-sightedness, negative brain effects on the brain and it is expensive.

Firstly, the use of technology in education must decrease because too much screen time is increasing the rate of youth near-sightedness. According to Pawel Makosa (2013), the use of digital devices, such as tablets, computers and e-books, during education leads to the fact that children strongly stare at a digital screen for at least 9 hours of lessons a week. Not included screen time at home, which is hard to measure, adds to the 9 hours of education behind a screen at school. A detailed report shows that children with the age of eight are spending two hours and nineteen minutes behind a screen every day. On the other hand, teenaged girls are spending seven-an-a-half hours behind a screen. According to to Pawel Makosa (2013), even two hours spent behind a screen is harmful for children. Research shows that children are not born with a full developed vision. These days, children are training their eyes to focus on a near-field object, since they are staring many hours a day at a screen. Meanwhile, there is a huge possibility that they lose their ability to stop focusing on near-fields object, leaving them with permanently near-sightedness.

Secondly, the use of technology in education must decrease because too much screen time has a negative effect on young brains. Youngsters need verbal and nonverbal interaction in order to ensure brain development in the frontal lobe. The brain its frontal lobe is the important area for the understanding of social interactions. Children educated on digital schools will have a lack of face to face interactions which may lead that youngsters are unable to recognize subtle emotional nuances and social cues. Furthermore, this raises the probability that they will have low social skills conveyed with them into adulthood, and results in expanded risk of depression and loneliness. Second, education trough reading books requires intense attention, imagination and memory. However, the use of digital devices in education will make imagination and memory unnecessary, and paying attention difficult.

Children are narrow minded and less creative as used to be. According to Rachael Rettner (2011), creativity has diminished among American children in recent years as well. The author also mentions that children are less humorous and less able to elaborate on ideas. Children must spend time with their teachers and other children in order to remain their empathic abilities.

Thirdly, the use of technology in education must decrease because technology expenses are too high. For example, schools in the United States spend around fifty-six billion dollars in technology education, whereof thirty-six percent used for kindergarten until high school. This means that the United States spend around four hundred dollars per student per year. According to a study, the access to the internet in schools is increased with a percentage of eight percent to ninety-seven.

However, many people state that technology education is friendlier for the environment then education trough paper books. According to a research done by David Wees (2009), a typical school uses around 2,000 sheets of paper every day, or around 360,000 sheets every school year. This means that around 34 billion sheets of paper are used each year in the United States. Not included school books, notebooks and pencils. The United States uses around 2 billion pencils a year, which represents the cut down of around 82,000 trees.

The cut down of trees leads to deforestation, and this has a negative effect on the environment. First of all, 70% of the world's plants and animals live in forests and are losing their living spaces to deforestation. the loss of this territory can prompt species annihilation. It likewise has negative results for nearby populaces that depend on the animals and plants in the woods for hunting. Secondly, Trees help to moderate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions, however they progress toward becoming carbon sources once they're cut, consumed, or generally evacuated. It is assessed that deforestation is in charge of around 20% of ozone depleting substance discharges and 1.5 billion tons of carbon is discharged each year by tropical deforestation. Lastly, deforestation can lead to flooding and erosion. Without trees to anchor prolific soil, erosion frequently happens and clears the land into close-by rivers. Trees are likewise urgent for the water cycles as they help with returning water vapour to the atmosphere. the trees fill in as nature's water cleansing plants and as the rain water permeates inside the dirt and is held set up by multifaceted root structures of numerous layers of trees. At the point when the defensive forests shelter and roots have been obliterated, the dirt will lose its extents to hold water and is washed away into the rivers and streams.

However, going digital is not greener than paper. According to Don Cardi (2010), digital media innovation utilizes noteworthy measures of vitality from coal-fired power plants making a huge commitment to an unnatural climate change. What is less generally known is that Mountaintop-removal coal mining is likewise a noteworthy reason for deforestation and biodiversity annihilation. Furthermore, paper is one of the most recyclable product. There is minimal budgetary motivating force for reusing digital devices, thus the larger part of undesirable and out of date electronic gadgets wind up as e-waste in landfills where they drain poisons into the land, air, and water.

To sum up, technology used in education has not only multiple negative effects on children but also on the environment. The use of technology in education has to decrease in order to protect children from brain damage and near-sightedness and to prevent deforestation that has various negative impacts on the environment.
