The 1920s was a prosperous decade that included change in society and its actions politically and economically. This duration included a period of free living and new adventures. They danced until they dropped and women shared there fierce miniskirts with the public. It was a time of change and the development of a new life. It took a toll on America and forever changed the people and our way of living.
1920s developed a newly invented device known as the radio. It cleared the pockets of many with great expense but had a tremendous name for its ability to broadcast an event verbally and grabbed the attention of a mass amount of the public.”KDKA the only radio station...But a year and a half later there were 220 stations in America”. The costly product started at “$50 to $150, by 1922 they were in some 300,000,000 homes across the country”. The radio was a success. It was a successful time in the 1920s when in the year of 1925 over 50 million were enchanted by the radio and listening to its various broadcasts. Broadcasting involved sporting events, lectures, children stories, as well as daily news reports. It was soon that the 1922 world serious between the Yankees and giants was broadcasted live. Within the next few years of great invention it overcame a step and took a chance on long distance broadcasting. “The ideas for networks came next. Soon NBC and CBS had their own station chains. The production and invention of the radio was a prosperous time in the roaring twenties by advancing in technology and being informed of news worldwide.
The roaring twenties not only developed new inventions it further took on its roar in new dances and arranged marathons. It was a way for couples to make money" Begging as a fun event couples often grooved until they can no longer move. The final result was a quantity of money that many couldn't win. Though it was a torturing event they
soon passed a law that caused the government to continue the marathons in certain states and the madness was further held with 15 minute breaks. "The rules were simple, couples danced an hour and then took a fifteen minute break. All they had to do was hang no to each other and keep moving”.
The 20s were a inspirational time period within the lives of many women the developed a sense a freedom after the Great War and there way of expressing that through their unique and glamour’s fashion sense starting with the flapper. The flapper “she was the new women of the decade". There skirts tumbled up and revealed more skin then usual it was soon determined that women developed a voice. "The hem length was nine inches from the ground". Though judgment was past to those women they continued to the following years with short sleeves and a killer new haircut that caused women to keep their hair in a short format. It was a fight that was won and owned by women. They proved that they two should have a discussion in what style to wear or how short they want to wear it. But one woman contributed to this fight with her surprising tennis wear. "Suzanne Leangle helped make newer styles popular she is a champion tennis player. She didn’t wear the usual, ankle-length tennis custom. Her dress ended just below her knees. It was shocking to a lot of people”
In 1920 a great baseball star was unleashed. This individual goes by the name of Babe Ruth. Bought from the Yankees from the Boston red sox’s. Ruth developed a name as greatest slugger. “Ruth won 87 games and lost only 45, in addition he won three world serious games and lost none.” Taking up a view roles in baseball Ruth took over the roaring twenties with his roaring abilities. Not only was he a inspirational baseball player but he had a big heart. “ once he took an autographed baseball to a boy in the hospital. While there he promised to hit a home run for the child.” After all his big accomplishments he was admired by many and was known as the Abraham Lincoln of baseball.
As a result the 1920s resulted in prosperous decade that was a inspiration to many weather it was the new music or dances the people took on great experiences and risks to develop freedom for women and new fashion sense. The 1920s was really a successful time period that changed many.
