A child raised by a Buddhist mother and a Christian father may cause some confusion to him or her in what is real, what is right, and what is wrong. Growing up, there might not be any religion enforced upon the child. If the parents with conflicting views were to try to raise the child with their own belief, the family might break apart. This may seem like an unhealthy atmosphere for the developing child, and it may be or maybe not. The only thing that kept the family from falling apart was the similarities within the different religions. I know that to be true because I was that child. I learned throughout the years that people have littler differences but, they have more important similarities overall. As I gold older, I got drawn to the Gospel. I found out my Baptist beliefs and how similar it was to my father’s Catholic background.

I did not go looking for religion; it found its way to me. I met a man by the name of Benjamin Clement. He spoke to me about the Gospel. It was not quite like the education that I receive from my public schools. He gave me his story on how he came to know Jesus Christ. His story moved me in a way I have never felt. I feel in love with him and his believes. I went home that night to pray and hope that this wonderful Christ that Ben talked about would be there with me. The next morning, I have awakened a saved Christian. I started attending Ben’s Baptist church every Wednesday and Sunday. I have learned soo much about the Baptist traditions and about the Gospel. I began to change my lifestyle to please my savor.

I started to attend a Christian theology class to grasp a better understanding on my beliefs. I did not only strengthen my belief through this course, but I have also learned about other Christian religions and their traditions. Every religion has its differences from mine, but all came to agree on the most important point. There is a God, a Jesus Christ, and a Holy Spirit.

I believe that originally people were made good. God is three in one. He is God, the son, and the Holy Spirit. God is greater than his creation; therefore, no human being can grasp or understand Him because He is far above and beyond our intelligence. People are now at a fallen state. We have sin through our choices, right from the beginning with Adam and Eve. Other Christian religions like the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, and Methodist mostly share the same meaning in the view of God and creation.

Though we have sinned, the predestined are saved by Jesus Christ through his sacrifice. We are guaranteed eternal salvation through God’s grace. Once an individual is truly saved,

their name will be written in the book of life and be sealed for all eternity. The Roman Catholics, Lutherans, Methodist mostly share the same meaning. Not all believes in predestination but, most believes in eternal salvation. Repent is what we do when we realize we have sinned. It pleases God that we repent, and it displays our obedience to our Lord. God made us in His image. Therefore, do we not only look like Him, but we also have free will. We have the choice to live a life that is pleasing to Him or a life that opposes Him. God’s hate for sin does not hinder is love for His creation. He hates the sin separately from the person. All our sins were paid for by Christ our Savior. No matter how many times we have sinned before, Christ the son of God has covered them all for us. No sin is too great for the sacrifice that He has endured for us. Orthodox, Reformed, and Anglican would disagree and say that one can lose salvation through sin.

To be saved one must asked for salvation from God. Only through Jesus Christ can one gain salvation. No matter how many works an individual displays, this does not help a person gain salvation. Only by the grace of God can one gain salvation. Once a person declares their salvation they must display their testimony of faith through baptism. The Holy Spirit will indwell in their body after they have risen from the immersion of the water. Reformed people would say that salvation is only gained after the Holy Spirit has indwelled in them. Each individual who are saved were elected by God. You cannot lose your salvation but, you must live a life pleasing to the Lord your God according to the Gospel.

There are two ordinances. One is communion and the other is baptism. Through communion, I believe the bread and wine is the body and blood of Christ. I will take the bread and wine in remembrance of Him. Through baptism an individual cannot be saved. It is just a presentation of their obedience and faith in their savior, Jesus Christ. Before the Lutheran Church, people go by sacraments. The Roman Catholic and Orthodox have seven sacraments. They also perform baptism in a different way that Baptist would. They would do baptism as infants, and instead of immersion, they would sprinkle holy water upon the person.

Grandview Baptist Church is a contemporary church. Our music consists of a mix of hymens and contemporary Christian music. Unlike the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and some Lutheran churches, our walls do not have stain glass windows or portraits and paintings of Jesus Christ up because it distracts from the Gospel. The Reformed, some Anglican, and Methodist churches agree with this. I believe the words of the Gospel alone create a beautiful painting within an individual’s heart. Woman cannot be pastors at Grandview. Other churches like Roman Catholic and Orthodox also do not have women led sermon. But, Lutheran, Anglican, and Methodist allow women to be pastors. We have small groups separated by ages that will meet every Wednesday in the church or in homes of other members of the church. A big part of the church is about community and fellowship.

Judgment day will come but, it will not be coming anytime in our generation. Christ will return. People who are saved will return to the kingdom of God. All we be judged. All churches have different views on end times. Anglican churches have a wide spectrum of views within their church alone. Mostly, Roman Catholics takes it symbolically whereas Methodist and Reform believes that Christ we return to and judge the people.

As a new believer of the Gospel, I am trying to take the Christian life and replace it with my own. I am always trying to spread the good news to others who have not heard of the Gospel. I will not though, push my belief upon a person who does not agree with me. Therefore, when it comes to health care, I will tend to those of different beliefs to how they want to be cared for. I will call in a priest of pastor if they would appreciate that. I will respect other people’s religious beliefs and not let my belief keep me from giving competent care.

As far as I know, all priest and pastors that I’ve talked to have agreed with me to respect others of their beliefs. This makes me think, when it comes down to it, all these Christian religions with different traditions and different interpretations always put God first. In the future, when I become a nurse, I will care for believers, non-believers, and people of all backgrounds. God has given me the path of healing, I will do just that. I will not harm others by picking on differences in our background or religious beliefs. I will care for all as best as I could because I believe that is what God has planned for me to do.
