Employees from these 3 nations have higher chances to be hired thanks to our diligence and morale. To some extent, our religion and culture cause restrictions, but they make us more self-disciplined and obedient, which lessens wrongdoings in business. Undeniably, 3 societies have changed a lot through globalization, which strengthen our ability to adapt to changes and risks. Through globalization, the governments of these 3 countries encourage on international trades, foreign investments inside country and market expansion globally.

Vietnam can export agricultural products and raw material while China exports their low-price electronic gadgets. With India, the 2 biggest industries are IT and outsourcing. Indian and Chinese investors also eye for service industry, especially hotel and tourism in Vietnam. We can do a joint venture: office in either of 3 countries or even another country, factory in Vietnam with cheap labor market, outsourcing process in India and retailing in China due to large and demanding population.

Changes in 3 societies above through globalization

The common between 3 nations is starting from an agricultural economy, especially Vietnam and China are both communists. However, China is now thriving as the second largest industrial economy worldwide while Vietnam and India are in the transition of becoming newly-industrialized economies. The most serious problem that Vietnam and India are now dealing with is corruption. Residents have been influenced by the westernization, resulting in more open-minded and liberal perspectives though deeply-rooted religion, culture and tradition have ingrained in our minds for thousands years.

The belief that our lives including wealth and social status are defined by Gods or supernatural powers since we were born no longer existed. Instead, how much effort we give in will be paid back equally. People pay more attention to education, work experiences, life skills to quench the thirst for knowledge, prosperity and status. That’s why the Vietnamese, Chinese and Indian are considered hard-working, enduring and ambitious.

Vietnamese culture:

  1. Status is more important than wealth: doctors, teachers or engineers are considered as high-status professions and whom traditional parents wish their children to become.
  2. Education is the most importance: the higher your grade at school is or the higher your degree is, the brighter your future is.
  3. Traditional Vietnamese women are very stoic: they are willing to sacrifice everything, even lives just to keep their family be safe and less miserable.
  4. Showing respect: the word “ạ” is added at the end of each of your sentences in the conversation with someone older than you, even with your older friend.
  5. Conservative: the younger is needed to obey what the older says without opposition and try to conceal what they actually think or feel.
  6. Impatient: we do not have a habit of queuing up or waiting for more than 10 minutes to get food after ordering in restaurant.

Chinese culture:

  1. People are hard-working and enduring: people work more than 12 hours per day and 6 days per week.
  2. Each Chinese needs to take care of not only their own family but also extended family.
  3. Children listen to parents’ wishes about how they choose schools, majors, jobs, spouses, etc.
  4. Listening culture: in a meeting, people tend not to raise their voice individually, instead following what the majority of members choose at the end.
  5. Education comes first when ranking one’s importance.
  6. Showing off: one can buy expensive phone, clothes and car which can be outwardly displayed, but live in small house and eat noodles.

Indian culture:

  1. Frugal savers: Indian parents plan for their kids’ education and start saving for even before the kids were born.
  2. Oral culture: Indians are very talkative and they like to talk, converse or gossip.
  3. Directness: people directly express their opinions and show their feelings
  4. Superstition: Indians predict the future by decoding the deep meanings behind the existence of an animal or a phenomenon.
  5. People compare a lot about their status in society, wealth or the success of their children.
  6. Unpunctuality: some people are laid-back and might think “There must be ones later than me.”
