The Bermuda Triangle entails that aircraft and vessels have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Located in a section of the North Atlantic Ocean off North America, where the three corners are Miami (in Florida), San Juan (in Puerto Rico), and Bermuda (a north-Atlantic island on which it has been so named). More than 50 ships and 20 airplanes are said to have mysteriously disappeared. On December 5, 1945, Five Navy Avengers Bombers mysteriously vanished while on a routine training mission, as did a rescue plane sent to search for them-six aircraft and 27 men, gone without a trace. As a result of the accident, the Bermuda Triangle was brought into the limelight. In the past 60 years, over 1,500 people have disappeared. Ever since old times, reports have been accumulated about missing ships and sailors. In modern times, planes and pilots also got lost.
The most notable incident was USS Cyclops. This was the worst loss of life for the Navy. The ship along with 309 crew members went missing March 4, 1918. The USS Cyclops is a 543-foot-long Navy cargo ship with over 300 men and 10,000 tons of manganese are onboard. The ship started sail from the snow-covered Norfolk navy port towards Rio, Brazil under the command of Lt. Commander Worley. This ship ended up being sunk somewhere between Barbados and Chesapeake Bay. There are many theories but none could ever be proven with real facts and evidence. No evidence was ever found of bad weather or enemy combat as the ship was in perfect condition. There are however, some explanations as to what may have actually happened on the sea.
In a shocking incident of 1945, a whole bunch of five training flights that took off from Florida naval base under the leadership of United States Navy Lieutenant Charles Carroll Taylor, never returned to the base. Other than Taylor, there were 13 others in the flight but were all trainees. Taylor was the only experienced pilot. On December 5, 1945 at 2:10 pm, the five avengers took off one after the other from the Naval Air Station of Fort Lauderdale for a routine training session. Things were going according to plan, the flights path was to first go towards East into the sea for 56 miles up to Hens and Chicken Shoals to practice bombing. Then they were supposed to go further east for another 67 miles towards the Bahamas. At the end of their training, they would make a triangle over the sea with their path. At around 3:30 pm, Taylor sent a message to the control tower that his compass was malfunctioning and he thought he was somewhere around the Florida Keys, which is a chain of islands south of Florida. Later, Taylor reported back to the tower and sounded worried and confused, “Cannot see land, we seem to be off course”. That was the last they heard of Commander Taylor. Officers at the station thought this was enough and around 7:30 pm, they sent two Martin Mariner planes to search for the Flight-19 planes. These mariners were like flying boats that could also land on the sea. The last transmission from Flight-19 was heard at 7:04 p.m. Search continued throughout the night and the next day. There were no sign of the Avengers. The rescue mariners were supposed to meet at the search zone, but the second mariner never showed up, it too disappeared never to return again. This was the case of the PBM Martin Mariner.
In conclusion, it’s hard to come to a final judgement on the Bermuda Triangle and its phenomenal events. The lack of evidence tracing the missing boats leads me to believe that the Bermuda triangle is entirely supernatural. The disappearances are hard to follow through with so little evidence. First, there is no denying that many of the incidents reported on Bermuda Triangle have actually taken place. Because a plane or ship not returning or reaching its destination is clearly recorded with official agencies concerned including US Navy, US Coast Guard etc. And there have been hundreds of such incidents. In a few cases oil leakage, floats or wrecks could be found while in others, there was no trace of anything.
