Phoebe in The Greek Mythology

Phoebe was the daughter of the titans. The titans were son and daughters of Uranus and Gaia, as told in Hesiod’s “theogony”. Phoebe the goddess of intellect , was married to Koios. Their children were Asteria and Leto as told in the “Dictionary of Greek and roman bibliography and mythology” Leto went on to bear Artemis, Apollo and Asteria, three better known identities in Greek mythology. When Phoebe was in power she held the oracle of Delphi ,she eventually passed on to Apollon , her grandson. According to Greek mythology, She was the moon goddess.

Gaea left the important duty to her daughter phoebe used to hear her mother’s voice while occupying the oracle Gaea and Thermis were the prophets .

The work was hard for phoebe however, and she thought it to be a very difficult burden. She passed on the responsibilities to her grandson, Apollo, to succeed her. Apollo became the newest prophet and gained a reputation for having a prophetic power greater than the heavens on his birthday. Both of phoebe’s daughters were incredibly beautiful and, representation of Phoebe, its easy to see that the must have inherited her beauty. Phoebe is known as the most beautiful titan, Phoebe gives off a calming presence, which was appreciated by anyone who came to her for advice. Phoebe was not very known on her own, was associated with many powerful aspects of Greek mythology. She was the elder goddess of intellect but is mostly known for her prophetic powers at the oracle of Delphi. Phoebe’s symbols include the oracle of Delphi and the moon , because of her granddaughter Artemis. Woman in the moon. If Phoebe was the goddess of the moon, she would have enjoyed some beneficial powers, such as being able to fly, ability to attract and rebel objects and ability to conjure a silver light whenever she felt like.

Phoebe the a titan, the name given to individuals of second generation of divine beings. Phoebe was part of the first generation of titans , who ruled during the golden age. The word “titan” stands for great size and power , which is an easily recognizable understatement once the stories of the first generation of titans are told. She had two kids with her brother Coeus, both daughters as Phoebe aged she began to feel more attracted to mortals but never beared a child with them . Her name is linked to the Greek pathaleon.
