Procrastination is one of the problems of youth today whether it might be school-related or life-related. It will always be the enemy of oneself when it comes to the task given on a specific time that can cause delaying or postponing. According to Liebenguth (2016), that 20% of the population of people identify themselves as chronic procrastinators. And sometimes people have positive and negative feedback about this, that at times people argue that procrastinating is a total waste of time but some say it’s not.
A lot of people enunciate that student procrastination is a waste of time. Instead of doing the task given they’ll complain more about it and find other tasks that will make them feel good and eventually they’ll realize that they don’t have the time left to do the task that is given on the first place. Even if they have a strong desire to do it, they won’t be able to meet their goals in the first place and can’t seem to take a step forward to it. Procrastination is not only a waste of time but it also affects one’s mental health such as stress and anxiety that concludes that it is not healthy.
Procrastination is not a waste of time it makes you have more time to improve a certain work or to do something. According to Frank Partnoy, author of Wait, he says that one should embosom procrastination since it as an art of managing delay which could lead to greater success. And according to John Perry (2013), people who procrastinate tend to get more things done seeing that individuals perform better on the important tasks. Thus, people put their 100% effort into a certain work that makes them more focus on it which makes it convenient for them to procrastinate. But unfortunately, people stick to the argument that procrastination is a total waste of time. They find easy tasks to work on than the tasks that are given because it makes them feel good. Also, they can’t make a certain task without the strong desire of doing it and lastly it causes health problems such as anxiety and stress. Other than that, some people are suited to procrastination they tend to have more good output when they procrastinate because they put all their effort into a certain task.
In conclusion, procrastination can be and may not be a waste of time but in totality it is a waste of time.
