The Bible's teaching about sex and relationships gives us a great understanding of it. The four passages I will summarise are Song of Solomon 7:6-8, Matthew 5:27-30, Mark 7:20-23 and 1 Timothy 5:1-2.
Song of Solomon 7:6-8 talks about a woman. The first line tells us that women are wonderful and are very attractive to men. The second line describes to us that a woman is tall and great like a palm tree, making the women seem more attractive to men. The very last line in verse 8 talks of the man wanting the woman's body as it is perfect and he wants the pleasure of them. He also says her fragrance on her is so beautiful that the man wants her even more.
Matthew 5:27-30 Jesus talks about dealing with the subject of adultery and sex, meaning he is referring to sin in adulthood. I know this by the line 29 and 30 where it says “If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right-hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell”. Jesus also talks about that adults have committed something bad and that should have not to be done.
Mark 7:20-23 talks about what he did and talks about how he felt. The man felt adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. Jesus also said that it defies a person.
1 Timothy 5:1-2 tells us how to treat men and woman. The first line describes to us that men are generally not to be rebuked. The next line talks about how to treat woman, mothers and children. He says mothers should be treated with respect and honour because of there age and the young people should be treated like a nice and caring sister.
The bible passage that relates to sex before marriage is 1 Corinthians chapter 7 verse 2 where it says “But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.” This verse meaning that any sexual activity outside of marriage is “sexual immorality” as this is sin. Another bible passage is Herberw chapter 13 verse 4. It says “Let marriage be held in honour among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” This verse is showing any sex that is before the married relationship between husband and wife is sinful according to the Bible. One difference between the bible and cultural views is that the bible says don’t have sex before marriage while other cultures say it is okay to have sex before marriage.
Bible passages that relate to same-sex marriage is Leviticus chapter 18 verse 22 states that “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination”. This verse means that the bible states that you should not lie with a man if you are a man and the same for a woman. Another bible verse is Genesis chapter 2 verse 4. The verse states “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” This meaning the same as the first one. One difference between the bible and cultural views is that the bible says you should not bet with the same gender but in other culture, it is okay to have the same gender get married.
The bible can show you many things about practical guidance regarding sex and relationships. For example Ephesians chapter 5 verse 3 where it says But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. This verse is great advice for the practical guidance of sex and relationships to Christian people. Also in Ephesians chapter 5 verse 33 let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. This is good as it helps men and woman because of the advice it gives them.
The creation of love, sex and relationships that God made is great for Christians as in the Bible it clearly states what needs to be done by Christians.
