The book I’ve finished is called “The Rivalry Mystery At The Army – Navy Game” by John Feinstein. The time this book was published was on September 28th, 2010. The army navy game mentioned in the book took place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. There are two hundred and sixty eight pages in the book. This book is a fictional book but the Army - Navy games was very real. I think this book is a phenomenal book that would be perfect if you are a sports fan.
This book is about two teenagers named John Feinstein and Susan Carol, they are sports reporters and they covering the Army – Navy game for their national newspaper jobs. They quickly learn about the rivalry going on with the Army and the Navy football teams going back 110 years. Also they face thing like unfair officials, and the secret service. These two high school students have a lot going on in their lives like sports writing, freshmen year of school, and their feeling for one another. For some people this book is a very great book for those of us that enjoy these types of books.
However me personally did not like the book, but there were parts that really caught my attention, like at the end of the book were they give you facts about the real Army – Navy game. The end of the book said things like the most points someone earned or that George W. Bush attended the Army – Navy game 3 times in the past. There were parts in the book I did not like for example, the end of the book the final score was 25-25 the score was tied. I believe that the final score should have been different ending with someone winning, doing this would have made the reader more satisfied with the ending of the game. Also I did not like the part when Stevie got separated with Susan Carol, She left because she was assigned to travel with the Navy team. I do not have a real reason for this I just think they should have stayed together.
If you decide to read this book you must know this book is a book of mostly football and a splash of mystery. For this very reason I did not like this book that much, but that is just my personal opinion about the book. If this is a book you would like to read it can be found in any Fulton County library or you may find it online. I would not recommend this book because to me it was boring and it wasn’t a very good read. The beginning of the book starts off slow but it gets a little interesting towards the end just in case you want to read this book.
