Biofuels are intended to replace gas, diesel fuel, and coal, which are called "petroleum products" since they are produced using creatures and plants, that passed on a large number of years ago. Using Biofuel is one of the ways to help decreases greenhouse gas emissions and to cut down levels of air pollution and that it is also a renewable resource. This essay will discuss the fortunate things that biofuel brings positive outcomes to the environment. To begin, when fossil fuels are burnt, they produce large amounts of greenhouse gases “Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere”. These greenhouse gases trap the sunlight and cause the planet to warm. The burning of coal and oil increases the temperature and then causes global warming. To reduce the impact of the greenhouse gases, people around the world are using biofuel instead of regular gas. “Studies suggests that biofuel reduces greenhouse gases up to 65 percent” (Kevin Bullis, Pg 1).
Since biofuels are not composed of hydrocarbons, they produce much lower levels of greenhouse gases upon combustion, and they're much less harmful to the atmosphere. However, they produce more nitrous and nitric oxides (one of the causes of acid rain) than conventional fuels. Greenhouse gas emissions from biofuels, such as ethanol and biodiesel, may be lower than many researchers have estimated, according to a new study. The findings could further be a debate over whether biofuels actually reduce greenhouse-gas emissions compared to gasoline, and if so, by how much. “From the human viewpoint of carbon dioxide, greenhouse gas emissions and commitments to environmental change biofuels have one vast preferred standpoint over gas, diesel, and other non-renewable energy sources: The biofuels are a piece of the over the ground carbon cycle. Not at all like oil or coal, the soybeans, corn, switchgrass and other organic materials that are made into biofuels are not uncovered from underground, nor do they discharge ling stored carbon as carbon dioxide into the air when combusted. Rather, when biofuels are ignited, the carbon dioxide is secure and once again released back into the environment” (Joseph Fargione, Pg 1).
Furthermore, biofuel is a renewable resource which is sustainable for our environment. Since they are made from agricultural crops the sources like manure, corn, switchgrass, soybeans, waste from crops and plants are renewable and are not likely to run out any time soon, making the use of biofuels efficient in nature. These crops can be replanted again and again. “Biofuels are made from crops that can, potentially, be grown in vast quantities and this carries a much lesser threat of running out than conventional fossil fuels” (John Forbes, Pg 1). This also means that biofuels can be produced and utilized on an infinitesimally shorter time scale than fossil fuels, which need millions of years to naturally decompose and form. Biofuels are produced from plants and other organic material, so it can be replenished constantly. This is in contrast to the fossil fuels, which are constantly in the process of being depleted. Most of the fossil fuels will expire and end up in smoke one day. Biofuels can emit less pollution than petroleum-based fuels, they can reduce dependence on foreign oil. In conclusion, biofuel is a good resource to use, since it is renewable and sustainable for our environment.
To finish up, since biofuels can be produced using sustainable assets, they additionally make less contamination on our planet. However, that isn't the main motivation behind this, why the utilization of biofuels is being energized. "They discharge and bring down levels of carbon dioxide and other emissions when they are burnt". Despite the fact that the generation of biofuels makes carbon dioxide as a side-effect, it is regularly used to develop the plants that will be changed over into the fuel. This enables it to become something close to a self-sustaining system (Bobby Jindal, Pg 1). Biofuels are not just helping a battling economy by just giving employment, “it also helps in reducing greenhouse gas emission and discharging less contamination" (Juan Romas, Pg 2). Biofuel is for the most piece being made from sugar sticks in Brazil and second-generation biofuels normally reduce emission by 70 to 90%, again excluding carbon releases related to land-use change (G_Ozdilek, Pg 1).
To conclude, biofuels use positive outcomes to the environment, which uses fewer levels of air pollution, as it reduces for greenhouse gas emissions. Also, it is intended to be renewable as it brings positive aspects to our environment.
