Imagine yourself being unable to walk, unable to see, and can barely breathe let alone speak. You are in such unbearable pain that you can’t even cry. Your life was well lived all those years before but now, there is no way that you could function without assistance. You think and feel as if your life has no meaning. Although your family is there for your every step of the way you begin to think, could ending your life be the answer to the pain? Well in all reality this isn’t something anyone needs to imagine. This is a real situation for many, many people. These people should be able to make their own choices and have control of their own lives.

Due to the advance of technology, medication and healthcare has advanced remarkably, humans have found ways to cure lots of diseases that had be incurable in the past. However, there are still many diseases that cannot be cured at the moment, but still cause patients with the disease to suffer tremendous pain. Patient with incurable diseases might ask for euthanasia, as the pain they are going thru is too much for them and When a patient with a terminal illness is hover between life and death, the value of a decent death might be more important than uncomfortable life. However, government and laws of many countries take euthanasia as inhumane and immoral, which to me is not necessarily true. Terminally ill patients who are in lots of pain should be granted the right to euthanasia. Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, my name is joshua seow. today I am here because of a very important task, a task that will allow me to not see the painful sight of my loved ones suffering, the task of persuading euthanasia. As I am talking to you right now, a close friend of mine, jasmine is suffering from Chronic leukaemia.

Chronic leukaemia is an increase of abnormal white blood cells. It differs from acute leukaemia, and is categorized as myelogenous(mayolorgenous) or lymphocytic(limfocitic). This disease is unlikely to be cured, so in the cruel truth, she is just waiting for death to come. She wished to be euthanised but due to lots of disagreement, she has been rejected. There are many of other patients like her and this is not the only painful and incurable disease.so, Is it not unfair that they are not allowed to end their sufferings? People who are against euthanasia said that helping someone die is wrong, because one can never know if there is a cure to an illness, therefore shortening lifespan of the patients. But statistics shows that, in 86% of the cases, euthanasia shortened patient’s life no more than a week, usually a few hours, patient ask for euthanasia when the chances of recovery are near to zero and besides the final few days of a patient would be the most painful ones and euthanasia will be the only solution. (Listland.com). So now, why I think euthanasia should be legalized.

Firstly, if we were given the liberty to decide our job, our family, our religion, and even our sex preferences why aren’t w granted the rights to end our lives when we are at such a terrible situation. Even abortion is legalized why isn’t euthanasia legalized yet? Secondly, the economic factor, for those who are terminally ill, they do not want to be an emotional and financial burden to their family, therefore with them dying, they would be reducing their family’s burdens. Initially it may be unfair to their families but in the long run, their decision to give up on life would help their families greatly. Their families would then not be burdened by the huge medical bills and the emotional strain of care giving. Lastly, Euthanasia stops the patient from having a bad quality of life.

Euthanasia is perceived by other people as the answer to their want of a quality life. Spending the rest of your life on a hospital bed, unable to walk, and unable to do the things you normally do, doesn’t define a good quality of life. After all, it is the patient who got to decide how he or she wants to live his life. Euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide is the best thing a doctor can offer to a dying patient since he or she cannot offer a patient something that’ll make his condition better.
