The escalating cost of living and societal pressure has forced modern-day people to be more industrious than their peers in the previous generation. To obtain set goals, people are forced to work for long hours. Students are increasingly spending more time in libraries and study rooms to attain high academic grades. Consequently, the desire to be successful in all realms of life has resulted in people being deprived of their sleep, by and large sleep deprivation results in negative such as a decline in academic performance, poor focus on job-related tasks and causes accidents on roads.
Contrary to popular beliefs sleep deprivation is detrimental to academic performance, Research has established that lack of adequate sleep results in the damage neurocognitive that are instrumental in the processing of new information. Rather than attain knowledge the lack of sleep may jeopardize the ability for a student to grasp the concepts taught in sleep. Consequently, students who sleep for long hours are likely to register better performance than their sleep-deprived counterparts.
