Statement of Purpose (electronics and Communication Engineering)

I come from a family that highly values education, my family has always been a consistent source of inspiration for me. Since childhood, I was a hardworking student, was one of the top students in my middle and high school and participated in various school competitions, cultural activities and sports which always demanded an innovative perspective in me. I was awarded with a badge of “Perfect” because of my academic and extracurricular achievements. After I passed my high school, I got admitted for my under-graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering in RIMT Engineering College, Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab. My dedication and interest for the subjects helped me to secure distinction throughout my college studies with an aggregate of 83% which helped me to stand among the top 1% of all students in my college and was awarded several times because of extraordinary academic achievement.

For summer training during my undergraduate studies, I spent eight weeks in Thapar University, Punjab where I was trained in the basics of Electronics and Communication engineering. I also completed two projects, first was ‘How to build a simple FM Booster’ a low cost circuit that can be used to listen from distant FM stations clearly and second was ‘Built a FM Receiver’ which is an electronic device that receives radio waves and converts the information carried by them to a usable form. For my final college dissertation, I was selected among few students to have internship with the national laboratory Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CISO), Chandigarh for four weeks. There I learnt various aspects of computational instrumentation during my four week period. My main internship was with Punjab State Transmission Corporation LTD for four months, one of the biggest electricity generating and distribution company of the Government of Punjab State in India. I learnt about various operations and maintenance of state’s power generating projects and distribution system.

After I passed my undergraduate degree, I was offered a position of lecturer by my own college due to my exceptional academic achievements. Right from my school, I had a penchant towards teaching and research. This propensity entices me to accept the offer and I really cherished the mentorship aspect of teaching. I learnt just as much from my students as they do from me. After getting married in 2008, I had to travel a lot due to my husband’s occupation and with birth of our little angel in 2010, I’ve been completely involved in the upbringing of my daughter.

Now my daughter is old enough and I have enough time for myself, I am convinced that I should pursue my masters and put up something to the understanding of a subject that has given me so much gratification. I believe that I have dedication and capacity to make the commitment that a career after my masters involves. I am self-assured that I have the motivation to make a relevant contribution to my chosen field.

It is by this aspiration that I apply to your esteemed university which has eminent faculty and alumni. I strongly believe that I hold the basic proficiency and tenacity to sustain the motivation needed for a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering. As I begin on this stage of life, I am confident that my step towards acquiring education from your university will provide me with the best environment to achieve my goals.
