I have always considered myself a jumper, visited many cities, lived in plenty of neighborhoods, but for me, neighborhoods weren’t about the number of houses or playgrounds. For me, my neighborhood was all about those members who shaped me into what I am now - a testament to the idea that we are stronger together. Some have helped me take on the role of leadership, and some have taught me how to live and enjoy life. I was a shy little boy, who he thought would never make friends, soon enough I knew the whole block.
One of my friends is someone who I have known since elementary school, we have always been close, he is my best bud. He is one crazy dude I will tell you that, competitive very much, talented and he is driven. He always pushed me to my limits if I was doing something wrong, he would tell me so I can get better at it. He invited me to try out so many things that I never thought I liked, such as sports or even food. He was a couple years older than me, I always saw him as a brother. His hard work and dedication rubbed on off onto me. Teaching me all kinds of things so I can push myself and keep moving forward, so one day after school I decided to take a seat and reflect on all the things, he always told me since that day on I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I wasn’t going to stop working until I reached the goals I had in mind. You see, I come from a rough childhood, where I had to stand up for myself and my family, where I started working at an early age, where I needed to survive.
All these years, my sister, my mother and I, we have battled together. We have made progress. We are getting stronger together. Those adults that I met during my childhood, all have given me advice and motivation to keep going. Most of them were my friend’s parents we were always a very close community where we had each other’s back. Many are so dedicated and hard workers that I have seen them succeed throughout my life. You see, I come from a rough childhood, where I had to stand up for myself and my family, where I started working at an early age, where I needed to survive. All these years, my sister, my mother and I, we have battled together. We have made progress. We are getting stronger together.
Most of these men and women taught me that my hard work pays off, don’t just five one hundred percent give one hundred and ten percent, when it hurts keep going because that is what is making you stronger. They all have helped me reach my goals and have made me into what I am now, “Soon all this pain will be gone, all of these sacrifices will be over and what you will see is your sweat and blood rise and shine into a success…,” greatest thing that my neighborhood has left me with.
