What would come to students mind when they hear the team work at class or at university? Students may think that it is a bit of annoying or, for new comers it may seem as a disaster. Team work usually teaches students many skills by sharing ideas and speaking and thinking in a loud voice; however not only teaching skills but also giving a high giving a high self-confidence. The benefits of team work are uncountable, but for many students, teachers, and authors the most important things that a student may learn from team working is improving social skills and devolving language.
First, social skills are one of things that a student would gain while working in a group of students. Also, a survey made by Austin (1997) says that the improvement of student’s academic life depends on social skills gained from team work. Moreover, hard and complicated tasks can be solved by team work and shearing ideas. Furthermore, group projects increases a group of skills that would help students in their professional life later on. Finally, group work increases the social skills, save time, break complex and hard tasks, enhance communication skills between students (Hansen, 2006).
Second, devolving language one on of the most things that helps improve the language is the team work by learning things from surrounding and listening to others. Moreover, it may be hard for students to understand or communicate with a second language so the best way is to exchanging information with others in groups, for example when students want to learn a new second language the teacher usually sit them together in group so they can express their feelings in their own way and to be more comfortable. Later, according to Vidal (2006) a group may be classrooms, families, games, chatters that most of students deal with and learn from and develop their language (vidal,2006). In brief, powerful learning experience is created between student by strategies and moments no matter how much students may hate or love group work (wiemer, 1986).
In conclusion, team work is so important for students it help them with their academic life and improve their social skills and save time and break the ice between students; However, It also reduces the complex and hard tasks, but not only improving social skills but also developing language by expressing their feelings with the group and like it or not team working is very important for students and new comers.
