The Analysis of Mexican Business Structure & Management Style

The country I have chosen to research is Mexico. With exoteric economic system and harmonious teamwork ethic, Mexican business sector is very good for producing and exporting products. Mexican business culture will be showed through an overview of its business background, business structure, management style, teamwork and communication style. Facts and figures in the chart will display its intensive social and cultural standards. Moreover, Mexican rank on the corruption index factor will be cited and analyzed to the corruption within the country. In the end, I will share how I understand Global Citizen and Equity Outcome and Beliefs on Mexican society.

Business Background

Mexico is a country which has a very particular business background. In this country, there are all kinds of industries. Furthermore, in these industries, manufacturing plays an important role. Then, its oil production remains the world’s fourth largest. Mexico is a major of Latin American economy, a member of the north American free trade area and one of the most open economies in the world. It is also one of the countries in the Group of 20. The United States is Mexican the largest trading partner and the source of investment. Bilateral trade covers about seventy percent of Mexican total foreign trade. Then, it exports to the United States covering eighty-three percent of its total exports. With the development of Mexico, it is very good to do some research into elements which make it different to the other two North American countries. What’s more, Mexico plays an important role in Us multinationals.

Business Structure

As we know, Mexico has a mass of multi-national organizations and the business structures of these organizations will affect their parent company. If we wanted to know this country well, it would be better to know their parent company first. Mexico works in Matrix-Style and leans to hierarchical system in personal lives and business. If they wanted to make a final decision, they needed to decide with concentrated ways. Finally, all of the important decisions will be decided by a few people who are the top of the company.

Management Style

The management style in Mexico leans to paternalistic and strongly hierarchical cultures. Tough management is very strict but it is not stand for authoritarian. The people who work in the top of the company will take care of others. And then they will combine tough decision-making with caring for subordinates. They believe that the employees’ sense of honor is the most important thing. What’s more, they will show they have some power to control the whole company but at the same time they also show they are kind. The good management should be balance like Mexico. The subordinates in the company will willing to follow the instructions which should be provided correctly and effectively. After the instructions are given, they just do and not discuss very much. In order to protect the employees’ pride, they will not criticize employees in the public places because they know if they did that, it would hurt employees’ self-esteem. We all know that, pride is the most important thing in our lives, so it is very humanistic for management to protect employees. Finally, relationship in Mexico is so deeply, the manager always looks for people who are loyal. In order to award them, manager will take care of their interests. As a result, the relationship between manager and subordinate is known as reciprocal.

Team Working

Mexico is a cooperative county that bases on relationship. In other words, Mexicans can work perfectly when they work within the good relationship. However, if they are not familiar with each other, it will take some time to understand each other and reinforce this relationship. In some cases, they will meet together with the same aim, and then they hope they can integrate into this relationship through this meeting. After they setting up groups, they will focus on their project one hundred percent and try their best to finish well. Also, they need to keep this group and transfer to the next project instead of dismantling and starting a new group.

Communication Styles

Although English is very popular in Mexico, not all the business can speak English fluently. The distinction of English language levels is very huge, it is better to double check if we need translators. There is not doubt that if people can speak English very well, they will get many benefits. It is very common that colleagues call others using family name. In fact, they will use family name when they have set up good relationship. In order to escape from getting into troubles, the best way is paying more attention by using family name. Besides, it is also very common using terms of respect to professionals such as lawyer and engineer. In the business environment, emotion will not be stopped. The discussion will change heated or shaped, if they show disgruntled emotions in the business transactions. This emotion shows us positively and hints participation and stress. In terms of body language, Mexican body language differs from Northern European and North American. Comparing with others cultures, Mexican stand closer to others and use more powerful eye contact. It is very significant that follow the example of them because it will be known as indifferent or suspect if we lack of enough eye contract or stand too far. In these cases, we can learn some ways from Mexican and change something.

Generally, corruption is known as “Using authority to get illegal money.” And Corruption Index is different cases of corruption in the world. Then, Corruption Index ranks 176 countries, the number grows up standing for turbidity to cleanliness. That means that 0 is the highest corrupt and 100 is the cleanest. Mexico locates in the 123rd on a list of 176 countries, showing Mexican social situations are not very clean and including some corrupt cases. During the 20th century, the corruption helped Mexico achieving the dream for political stability and improving economic. But after that the corruption affects the development of economic very much. Because this case has been ingrained that it is too hard to change at the moment. However, Mexican believe that corruption is one of the most important problems and ranks only second to safety elements. Also, it became the main topic in the political activities and the first thing of civil society. After many discussions, they think the main reason of corruption is its politics-presidential republic. Even though they set up National Anticorruption System, it worked without cleat conditions. Luckily, this organization was set up by the regulator of the board of directors. The most important thing is this organization will be run by citizen. What’s more, a new leadership appear to strike the people on the top of politics and provide some approaches to solve these problems. This system is based on three elements and implement the concept from the bottom-up.

Suggestion

A suggestion for Mexico is to build harmonious relationship of governments, businesses and citizens. If these three sections can collaborate and restrict together, it will reduce corruption. Also, we need to find the main reason of corruption and think of some useful ways to deal with. Finally, we need to know we cannot eradicate corruption at one blow. On the contrary, fighting with corruption is the course through step by step and changing constantly. Mexico improved the education in many rural areas.·According to the local laws indicate that people should against discrimination and get the education equality. Unfortunately, Mexico did not implement the education equality and some people who came from rural areas did not get enough or none education. Mexico government mentioned that it was because of the backward education system and justice. They tried their best to solve these problems and provided equal education to everyone.·They set up an organization managed by federal government of Mexico, whose name is CONAFE. The aim of this organization is spreading education in Mexico, especially in rural areas.·This organization expanded the number of teachers by eighty percent. Also, expanded its services to one hundred and seventy-two marginalized areas.·Nowadays, CONAFE continues to support the marginalized areas. Until now this organization has serviced 48,640 people. What’s more, the country has already achieved ninety-four percent improvement in literacy. As a result, Mexico improved their education very much, especially in rural areas.

In Conclusion

To Summarize on the Country, Mexico is a potential country. Although their corruption a little high, they think of many ways to solve and get a great improvement. Also, they focus on improving education which is also get much enhancement. They have all kinds of resources to export, which can bring them some economic benefits. Then, they respect for human rights that is the key for the country becoming successful. Moreover, they enact and alter some laws in order to improve the whole country. Their business structures and management styles are very good and can be mirror. Then, we also can get some comprehension from their teamwork and communication styles. In short, Mexico is a country that is developing in different fields.

In my opinion, I think GC&E is a wide range of word. As one of the global citizens in the world, I look very weak. However, I can do some small things to show that I am a global citizen with many power. For example, I can help the poor through donation. I have donated since kindergarten. I tried my best to help them, for instance I donated my books, clothes and so on. Even though these are just so small things for me, to the poor, these will be so big and maybe change their lives. In some poor areas, children cannot get enough education without books or anything else. If I could donate some books to them, they could get more resources to study. In my views, it is important for them to study because education can change everything. What will I do to adopt this for myself? Through the study of GC&E, I learned a lot of knowledge of it. Nowadays, I will form a good relationship with my classmates and also pay attention to group cooperation. If they get into some troubles, I will help them. In the future, when I have a job, I will take care of my colleagues. If I become a manager, I will listen to my colleagues and look after their interests. When I have decision, I will ask their ideas and try my best to make a decision that everyone feel satisfied. In short, I learned some skills, such as communication skills, leadership skills, manage skills, which are very useful for me.
