The Blackfoot Indians are an American culture tribe, they normally live in the area of the northern plains like Montana, Idaho, and Albert, Canada. They all mostly still live in the same region today, mostly in Montana they were about 16,000 people that were registered there and over 80,000 saying they lived in Blackfoot. In the Blackfoot religion the sun it had a very central place in the Blackfoot culture. The Blackfoot people believed that the sun dances with happiness in the midsummer. They split into 3 categories. The above person who they lived on earth, grown person they live underground, and the underwater but also known as suyitpas they lived in lakes and streams. Animal were a big part of their religion, they worshiped them because they believe they helped humanity: wolves helped with hunting, and buffalo were used for food. There were two main famous leaders of the Blackfoot Indians, they were crowfoot and kalani Queypo.

Crowfoot was in charge of a peace treaty with Canadian government. He fought in a lot of battles but one of the tough one in his opinion is the battle he fought and did not win but he was fighting for alcoholism for his people. Kalani is a famous actor from the Blackfoot, he is in movies known as The Royal Tenenbaum and The Junior. Chief White Calf is another famous person known for being active in selling land in the United States but they now make the eastern half of glacier national park. Some more famous leader they have are Yellow Horse, Captain Jack, Moring Owl (Pinkuni), and a couple more. The lifestyle of the Blackfoot Indian was nomadic. The hunters would hunt buffalo, deer, elk, mountain sheep, and other animals that were there. They lived in tipis, they only had one plant in their culture and that is the Baback plant. The life of living in a native American tribe is that babies and young children were with their mom a lot of the time. The mom would still have to work like she does every day, she would carry the baby in a cradleboard on her back. The child got nursed until they were 2 or 3 years old usually. Newborns wear tread special applied by other tribes, the tribes would help give the newborn aceramonity. Giving the newborn a name was an important process, the boys were usually given a name that described them. The earlier tribes did not have a school or any education like we have now. The young boys followed the men around and learned how to do chores and hunt. The girls followed the women around and learned traditions the women do like making baskets, working out in the fields, and cooking.

For punishment, children were spanked if they disobeyed. When they were punished they would be embarrassed or ashamed in front the rest of the tribe, otherwise if you did obey you were praised and honored in front of the tribe. To become an adult you would go through a rite of passage ceremony to become an adult. That day forward they were to act like an adult. The tribes were usually made of different tribes of boys and girls.
