The gentle breeze, the warm, glowing sun, the refreshing exercise: these are all part of extracurricular activities. Students cherish this time of the day and are able to release the stress through their enjoyment. Whether it is athletics or theater, extracurricular activities allow students to embark on activities that they like. School districts are thinking of imposing a fee for the extracurricular activities. If the schools charge the parents, many of the parents will not allow their child to participate in the activities. This will result in low attendance in the classes. It will also cause the students to spend their time unwisely after school. Extracurricular activities should not have costs because they keep the children involved in school and out of mischief.
As a result of the price of the extracurricular activities, most parents will not allow the student participate in the activities. This will result in having fewer students in the activities. Then there would be no point in having the activity. For example, in the Boating Club, there were only two students in it. So unfortunately, the coach cancelled the class and the students had no where to go after school except to their home and act like couch potatoes. Extracurricular activities are a crucial part in keeping students from being lazy. Rather than staying at home or with friends after school, where someone could get into trouble, students can stay at school participating in activities where they are watched and kept busy.
Because of extracurricular activities, students are more involved in their school. The students are able to meet new people that have similar interests. Specifically, an outcast in a regular classroom may find numerous friends in an activity such as the Chess Team. By meeting people with common interests, students can share their passion for something and feel as if they belong in their school. Extracurricular activities can also make students look forward to going to school. This is great because the students will actually feel as a part of the school and be more involved.
Extracurricular activities can also influence positive role models. In athletics, such as football, the coaches are likely to pass on positive morals. Many athletes are respected by their fellow students and are able to encourage high moral standards among them. This will boost the student’s strive for the best and try to be the best.
Extracurricular activities should not have a fee to join because they allow students to participate in the school and encourage good morals. Students will become happier, more virtuous people as a result of extracurricular activities. Also, most parents will not have the funds to pay for the price of the activities. Extracurricular activities are needed in the schools and as a part of the student’s school life.
