Life is a remarkable thing, so when we lose someone or see deaths happen around us, it tends to shakes us up. Deaths are constant reminders that nothing is permanent, but you can make up for that by how you use your days. Maybe there are deaths that push you and motivate you to fight even harder for what you want and believe in. Regardless of what the story is, it puts you on the edge of life. Life is spontaneous, and that's the scary part.
Who knows what can happen today? Whenever someone passes away, we tell each other, “Cherish the ones you love and care about. Show them what they mean to you before it's too late”. In life, we encounter many obstacles, no matter where you are born; your age or the kind of job that you have, we all have to face different obstacles during our lifetime. However, it is in your hands if you decide to look at these obstacles as problems or perceive them as challenges to grow. My biggest obstacle I ever had to overcome was the death of my grandfather. My grandfather passed away in an accident. That was my tagline when people asked me about him. It sums up all the information they needed to know, but no one ever asked me for the full story. The full story is that he passed away in India due to a terrible accident. He was waiting on the sidewalk for the bus to arrive, while this drunk motorcycle driver came and hit him. I remember to this day the devastating phone call my mom got about my grandfather. Trying to overcome this heart-rending experience was vile and seemed to take forever. I felt as if the universe was caving in on me. At this point, I knew I will never be the same as I was before. I could not concentrate in school; all I could think about was to go to India with my mom. After years of my grandmother going to court fighting for my grandfather, she lost. The drunk driver just had to pay a fine and got to go backing to living his normal life. However, our family’s life was not normal anymore.
At this moment, I knew that I should stop feeling sorry for myself and take action. I did not want someone else to go through the pain my family did. This inspired me to help people get the justice they deserve and made me chose what I want to do with the rest of my life. This obstacle helped me realize that I want to become a lawyer and make sure people get the justice they are entitled to have. I knew I would never be the same as I was before. In some ways, I see life as a puzzle. Every experience forms a piece of your unique puzzle.
When the pieces are combined, they form the entire picture of your life. When my grandfather passed away, he took a piece of my puzzle with him. A piece that I can never get back. I am incomplete without it, without him. However, my grandfather’s death woke me and helped me realize what I am passionate about. Before his death, when people asked me what I wanted to do with my life the answer is I am not sure, but now I exactly know what the purpose of my life is.
