Introduction

The purpose and significance of DACA is to provide relief from deportation particularly to eligible youth immigrants who came or rather entered the United States when they were children (Dilckerson, 2018). Thus, DACA protects and allows eligibility for work permits of young undocumented immigrants and entitlement to a two-year renewable deferral action on deportation (Dilckerson, 2018).

Background

DACA was established after the acknowledgment that the number of "Dreamer" scholars in America was continuously increasing, and hence the need to allow and protect some individuals under restrictive conditions (Dilckerson, 2018). Primarily, DACA sought to protect the undocumented youth immigrants by getting rid of unlawful deportation of native-born citizens of the United States, particularly those with good behavior (Yamiche Alcindor, 2017).

As a result, the DREAM Act was enforced. The bill aimed at providing a legal position to young unauthorized settlers who had come to the U.S with no legal permission. Due to the rapid increase of illegal immigrant students in the U.S, the DREAM Act bill provided protection and administration relief to the increasing population of unauthorized immigrants (Dilckerson, 2018). Thus, through the Dream Act, the undocumented immigrants were assured of permanent residency in the United States upon meeting certain qualifications and requirements as enshrined by the American Congress in 2007 with regards to DACA (Yamiche Alcindor, 2017).

Impacts of Trump Administration's Policy on Young Undocumented Immigrants

The decision of president Donald Trump regarding terminating of DACA program will not only deprive the government revenues of DACA recipients but affect the huge population of unauthorized immigrants in the United States as well (Schwartz, 2016). This is because these young individuals, often referred to as “Dreamers” who have been residents of the United States for quite a long period of time and even attended school and works there, makes contributions to the economy as well (Schwartz, 2016).

Therefore, Trump’s administration’s policy with regards to the undocumented immigrants poses a lot of danger and uncertain future growth indices of the U.S economy as ending of DACA program will deprive the country of valued employees (Wides-Mun~oz, 2018). Consequently, the United States will lose tax revenue, and thus worsening government finances.

For instance, according to the report released by the National Academy in 2016, it was revealed that young adults born in the United States by immigrant parents have a positive net impact to America's economy (Gonzales, 2016). This is due to the fact a high population of unauthorized immigrants in the U.S is well equipped with good educational backgrounds, and hence they are compensated highly in their various workstations. Thus, on a per capita basis, highly educated undocumented immigrants pay more in taxes. As a result, the decision of Trump's administration regarding deporting undocumented immigrants will affect the finances of the U.S. government leading to a net drain of its economy (Schwartz, 2016).

Additionally, Trump’s administration policy on young undocumented immigrants is likely to waste taxpayer dollars. This is because putting an end to DACA program won’t help locate, deport dangerous criminals and boost border security, but rather hurt the U.S economy and waste taxpayer dollars on deportation (Schwartz, 2016). This is due to the fact that, Trump’s administration rhetoric on immigrants upholds the position that native-born citizens are more likely to commit crimes. However, this presumption is incorrect as it not supported by any facts.

Therefore, it’s important to protect the rights of good behavior students, apprentices and other various learners who are earning their education, rather than prosecuting them unlawfully. Instead, emphasis should be put on prosecuting convicted criminals who would otherwise pose danger to the community. Thus, the decision of ending DACA program is economically imprudent as there will be a lot of wastage of taxpayer dollars on implementing counterproductive immigration enforcement. Instead, those finances should be used on various productive government projects, hence strengthening the country’s economy (Schwartz, 2016).

Also, Trump’s administration policy on young undocumented immigrants has an effect on U.S employers (Schwartz, 2016). The administration policy gives liberty to U.S employers to work with DACA recipients with valid Employment Authorization Documents (EAD). However, upon the expiry of Employment Authorization Documents, the employers are not allowed to continue employing DACA recipients as it is unlawful (Gonzales, 2016). This means termination of their employment. Nonetheless, DACA recipients are allowed to apply for a renewal of an EAD as soon as possible. However, they are not allowed to work if their current EAD expires, even if they are waiting for an extension of application approval (Gonzales, 2016).

Finally, the immigration guiding principles of President Donald Trump’s administration is characterized by suffrage and illegal detention of the Native-American citizens and unauthorized immigrant in the U.S. For instance, according to report released by U.S Department of Homeland Security on the 5th of December 2017, a lot of immigration arrests of people with no criminal conviction has been on the rise nearly tripled compared to the same period in 2016 (Gonzales, 2016). A large number of people being deported demonstrates the violation of the rights of long-term immigrants with the strong U.S as they are not given a fair and individualized hearing before deportation (Schwartz, 2016).
