Michael Sandel’s assessment that the society is becoming a market society is true as more values are continually being pushed out because of the importance of money. The contemporary society has become a money oriented society where people pay money to get quick access to services by demeaning the importance of social goods. A market society is where by companies buy clients and the clients are willing to pay while they ignore the importance of business ethics. For instance, most airports today buy travelers by selling them expensive air tickets to avoid making long queues at the airports. Travelers pay the amount and get ahead in the line, ignoring those who have been queuing for long hours ("'What Money Can't Buy' and What it Shouldn't Buy", 2017).

Important social goods have been made cheap by the market society that does not take responsibility for business ethics. Companies have today lost the dignity that was held for human beings by hiring certain groups of people such as the homeless people to perform services where their rights are not being taken care of as they should. It is worth making money in competitive businesses, but business ethics have to be considered when making important business decisions.

For instance, it is not right according to business ethics to hire the homeless people to make long queues for hours on behalf of those who will pay them through the company. Such companies that carry out such businesses also make profits out of the service fee whereas they do not spend the money to innovate better ways of taking care of the long lines. The society has, therefore, become a market society where social goods have been made cheap through various means in businesses.
