Many people visit Lincoln Castle and look around thinking “o It’s just another boring castle, however, It’s more than just a castle. How do you know what people think? Lincoln Castle has a really cool and intriguing history. Lincoln Castle’s history consists of lots of King’s and Queen’s and Wars between many other city-states. The significance of the castle, where and when it was built, cool places inside the castle like the Observatory tower, Lucy tower, and Cobb Hall. What wars they fought in for example 1217 civil war and the French invasion. To this day Lincoln Castle conveys the gruesome of the grueling wars that it was put through. Royal people like King Henry II, King John, King Henry VIII, and Queen Catherine visited times during the 12 century.

Lincoln Castle was built on a previous roman fortress. William the Conqueror built a magnificent castle named Lincoln castle almost 1000 years ago, This magnificent castle has witnessed very jaw-dropping and historical events in English history within its life. William the Conqueror won the battle of Hastings in 1066, after that he came up with a strategy of taking over north kingdom was to request construction on what is know Lincoln castle but they kept resisting the request because it didn’t only afford far reaching views but it also served as a reminder that the Normans were in charge. Generations earlier the Romans who invaded Lincoln city build their unstoppable fortress on the hilltop where the lincoln castle was planned to be built on. The Normans originally established their mottes and bailey castle recycling the original stone walls from the Roman fortress in 1068.

There were some very significant people that had visited Lincoln castle, for instance, King Henry II, he visited several times in the 12th century. Archaeologists discovered that there was a wide variety of bird, fish and animal bones, possibly remains of a luxurious feast in honor of him. Another important person that visited Lincoln castle was King John, In September 1216 King John spent a considerable amount of days in the castle before alleviated losing his jewels and luggage in the coming of the tide of Wash, he died of dysentery in a period of two weeks into his visit at Newark Castle. August 1541, over 300 years later King Henry VIII accompanied by his Queen Catherine Howard, It was afternoon when they rode to the castle and visited the castle and the city as part of his dignified advance to york.
